well things appear to have petered out, lumbered by deadwood. with all the contract issues and aging players we have, next summer is looking like another impending disaster
this summer needed to be drastic but we're stuck trying to shift yet another truckload of dreck wenger has accumulated over the years
I'd have thought this summer & season to be the most important of AW's career, not just his tenure at AFC.
Retaining Sanchez and Ozil is only half the target - we've still to justify doing so by regaining CL so as to offset losing their transfer fees, as I do not see them staying without winning titles.
If we fail to regain CL and then lose the 8 players out of contract next summer, then a rebuild of the squad & team immediately becomes impossible with AW as manager, as he says he does not believe in more than 2-3 changes to the team at any time. IMO the dross will become the core, as if we are unable to find anyone available to improve the quality when we were in the CL, then I highly doubt we will be able to do so if we fail to regain top4, as we are unwilling to pay market value.
