His price would have risen as a result of the Cup - we may do better to look to the likes of Milinkovic-Savic or perhaps even Kondogbia?

C'mon Anzac, it's not 2015  ;D

He's been a near bust at Inter and is regularly critiqued for not having any positional sense/discipline....not quite the player I'd want in our squad. Him and Xhaka as a CM pairing would be blah.

Rafinha for Ox would be fine by me.

I just used Kondogbia because AW was after him from Monaco when he went to Inter, and Inter are also rebuilding so he may be available as one of AW' bargain opportunities.
TBH I'd prefer we signed Lemina / Rabiot.

Lemina's agent seems to have offered him around with none of the bigger clubs interested. He's probably not good enough for us either.

That would be good business. Don't understand the rumours that Ox wants to go to Chelsea though. He definitely won't play in central midfield there either.

A move that would make zero sense for Madrid. Wonderful player

Real aren't going to sell off a young homegrown player who has the potential to become a world class attacker.

He's been a first team player so probably wants the wages to match. This will be his agent working

Links to William Carvalho. Might be looking to play him as a sweeper.

😆 what?

He is the modern Hatem Trabelsi. 🙂

Asensio is total houseboat stuff.

Those would be a decent haul.....

Agreed that Asensio is massive houseboat, at this point Bale is more likely to move.

Would you take bale? I always thought he would be an arsene Wenger type forward and at the prices quoted for others we could do.worse.

Don't think anyone here would say no to Bale. He cost a crazy amount

Too injury prone. We aren't in a position to be spending that much money on someone who isn't likely to be able to play 50 games a season. Great player though.

It'd be worth it just for the rage of the Tottenham supporters.

I'd take Bale any day of the week. He'd wreak havoc with Ozil and Xhaka feeding him the ball.

At this stage, I'd take Bale, if only to ensure Mbappe doesn't go to City. Watching Mbappe in the premier league would put me near defeat

Bale would come in and immediately be the best player in Premier League. He's the sort of signing who wins you league titles. He didn't used to be injury prone either; he's just had a bad run over the last year or so. I'd be willing to sell half of our starting eleven to fund a deal if I thought we had a snowball's chance of signing him.

Yeah no brainer really. He would be a signing to take us to another level, one of the very few in world football

Bale wouldn't even consider us this summer.

No one in the top 50 players would consider us. The amount of time wasted on pipe dreams is ridiculous.

carvalho is deffo the new kalou/trabelsi/mexes/chivu i.e. we'll never buy him

Jones - anything you've heard on our interest in Barkok?

IMO it's mainly for show and to enable & Co to say we tried but there was no one available to sign who could improve our quality, and then AW can add another name or two to his ever growing list of players he nearly signed.

😆 I love the whole idea of this thing, like someone called her up "ok we'd like you to come and model the club kit for a bit of PR, oh BTW the Lemar deal is done and will be announced in a couple of days."

Btw, isnt she the missus of our very own Hector Bellerin? 😉

5 days later

Matuidi, Sagna, Keita, Romeu, Butland.
Perhaps not at the elite level other than perhaps Keita, but certainly covers the areas that need to be addressed. If we managed to sign Keita I'd doubt that we'd make any other signings in midfield, whereas we could probably sign both Romeu and Matuidi for less & CM remains an issue thus far.
IIRC AW has used Sagna as cover at CB in the past.
AW will need to sign another GK sooner rather than later.

Agreed - AW has used him as emergency cover at CB in the past much as he uses Monreal,
but IIRC Sagna was good in the air & his delivery from wide was better than Ox or Bellerin & would also suit Giroud's runs to the near post.

The BIGGEST point being that there ARE options and they do not need to improve the (technical) quality if they provide genuine balance and address the actual needs.

Sagna was great but he's not up to playing for us any more. I'd rather keep Chambers and give him whatever minutes you'd give Sagna.

We really are turd when it comes to using the transfer window
