We got a clean sheet but man, Koscielny and Mustafi have some work to do, as a pairing and individually. Gibbs was dumb to challenge the way he did but both Mustafi and Koscielny can't be going for the same ball and losing it too. I have never seen such defending. I don't know how Wenger doesn't sort it out.

Never mind Wenger, Bould is specifically tasked with coaching defence at the club and season after season we have absolutely nothing to show for it. He's getting an easy ride from the fans but the merits he's living off are much older than Wenger's. He just looks like a bang average coach to me.

What mystifies me is why Lucas doesn't start. Bloke's a proper player and just the kind we need if we're gonna turn our form around. Wenger doesn't seem to like guys like him for whatever reason.

If all of Walcott Welbeck Giroud Alexis Iwobi and Ox break down he'll get a fair chance to play himself into the team

Wenger simply has his favourites

I think you still need a midfielder who will put himself about and get his foot into a few tackles. If you allow Coq to do that an play it simple you remove a lot of the flaws in his game. Same way allowing Coq do the tackling and Elneny the controlling helps Elneny. And then if you Ox to bring things forward and look for a pass as well as using his engine to work the way he did today suddenly you've a solid midfield that can transition to the forwards. No one is really great in it individually but it should work as unit.

I think it's almost a given that Chamberlain who has been our best player in the last two weeks in midfield will be dropped one Xhaka is back.

I do want to see him and Xhaka once. Chamberlain has been receiving the ball with Coquelin ahead of him when we play out from the back. His distribution has been great and he plays it quickly but we need both central midfielders to be good on the ball.

was a tough game considering they have taken full points off pool and united. Where's all the 'we won the game, relax guys' posts? Only y va is left on that side looks like, even qs is gone.

Chamberlain has also shown immense physical strength in duels during this run in the center of midfield. Probably one with the greatest upper body strength in our squad.

All the replies so for have been reasonable tactical assessments though. There is no overreaction that needs to be told to relax.

Anyway without judging Y Vas posting style she mostly just posts pics instead of arguing with post match moaning now.

Well there shouldn't be a "hell yeah". We were at home against the team 18th in the league and we struggled.

And it's not like the win got us within 3 points of Chelsea. If staying ahead of 5th placed United and Mourinho is exciting, then hell yeah!!

While I generally agree, saying it like that is intentionally leaving out relevant information. While they are indeed 18th in the league, their current form is better than that.

They've won 2 of their last 10 Premier League games and they haven't won away since August.

People who feel that way tend not to post in football forums when the mood is low amongst the overwhelming majority of posters 🙂

It just invites grief.

I thought we were pretty dire today, sense disharmony amongst the team, attack putting defence under constant pressure with their inability to hold onto the ball.

Aside from that I was a silent punch in the air, job done, thank god we didn't lose happy.

We were never going to blow Hull away but I thought we looked confident despite recent results. Once Elneny came on for Walcott, we looked a lot more compact and the pressing was good. Ox's physical power and ability to carry the ball the distance helped alleviate the numerical disadvantage in midfield. I think his tracking back was also solid at times. His reading of the game can be improved just like his counter part but he brings certain attributes we lack when Ramsey is in there. Remember this was the same player some people thought was lazy and should be sold. Hull looked very big and physical but we coped ok. Could've finished the game off much earlier if not for some poor final balls from Ozil and Sanchez. Theo finally showing some fight again.

No his issues still exist, I just don't think he is lazy and should be sold. He is clearly not as incorrigible like some of you would suggest.
