Think it all comes back to Coquelin just trailing the guy. Gabriel is not the smartest defender under the best of circumstances. If it had been Kos there he'd probably have stepped up a lot sooner but Gabriel gets caught flat-footed instead, and the centrebacks can't really do much until Capoue is through. Passive defending at its worst, and if there had been a Vieira in this team the others would have had to tear him off Coquelin. Fists would be flying in the dressing room at half-time.
