Cech is an old dinosaur.

Oslo a in for the rest of the season please.

Dunno if Ospina is the 'long-term' answer, either. The defense always looks skittish as fuck with him back there - communication seems to really be absent and he does struggle under high balls.

Probably worth trying something different though.

Definitely think he needs his old GK coach in there. Too many goals at the best post, not sure that is age catching up though.

His speed to come out and close the angle has declined badly, while he was never good and getting down for shots from the start.

There are a lot of rumours about us going for Pickford and we will do well to sign him.

need a new keeper in the summer. ospi is good but i don't think he's the answer there. cech has been very average this season

Ospina is a good keeper, we could do worse. His aerial issues are exaggerated. Dunno about his communication skills.

Cech is clearly on the decline. Lacks quickness. Maybe Wenger sees a bit of Lehmann in him and he doesn't want to repeat that mistake... but Ospina is no Almunia.

Yes his decline in reaction and speed is clear to see but he does still pull out some good saves now and then. Wouldn't mind Ospina as starter and keep Cech as backup until we can get a quality replacement in.

Ospina is currently the better player and has been for a while. Deserves to start.

Cech is living on past reputations, even on here.

He isnt good enough nowadays. Ospina saves two of those shots yesterday easily, as well as Sterling's effort against City

Obviously not everybody is Diego Alves or Pepe Reina, but to dive the wrong way for every single penalty he faced and not save one since 2011 is mind boggling. Cech's skills on penalty is poorer than I thought.

Don't think there's much daylight between them either, but you could argue that's a good reason to not drop Cech if anything. We probably need to replace him in the near future with someone who's a cut above his current level. What we don't need to do is to bin another piece of the backbone when there's no obvious gain. The team suffers from too much turmoil already.

As for penalties, who honestly gives a shit. It's a complete guessing game. People said the same thing about Lehmann for years, and then he made the save that took us to the Champions League final.

They showed Wilson's penalty history before he took it. Basically he always goes down the middle. Assuming Cech did his homework, why didn't he wait for Wilson to shoot?

Maybe nobody is coaching him on penalties. Just like nobody is coaching the squad on team defense.

Forget the penalties , he is getting beaten by low near post shots with regularity these days. I am certain coaches tell their players to target that area .

Ospina has been great in the CL, but I still feel better when Cech is playing. He has conceded a few soft goals, but ultimately that happens with all goalkeepers when the sample size of games gets big enough.

I wasn't very convinced by Ospina against Preston, I have to say. That disallowed goal is the perfect example, (which by the way, I've seen those given). The guy struggles to compete in the air and long term I don't think you can have a keeper like that in England.
