I know a lot of these folks, and they would probably drive you up the wall. Obviously I don't know all of them, but living for the protest is a common issue here, and there is a whole little industry that's been made out of it, whether it's for all the right reasons or not.
They don't get anyone jazzed up about going out and voting, in fact, they actively discourage it and even try to shame people for bothering, as they see it as lending legitimacy to the system.
Obviously Trump's election isn't "the end", but protesting needs to be coupled with political action, not just bitching into the air. I'm cynical about organizers' ability or will to actually engage politically precisely because Trump did get elected.
