I see this downgrading of Trump's evil, by reducing him to idiot or clown status, as quite dangerous.
He may act clownish and idiotic, but he's neither, not that he's exceptionally bright either.

He's not a clown but he's not reading through things, he doesn't fully understand them. He's obviously got some serious nous to turn himself from a joke celebrity game show host and rich guys son into the President but its all instinct with him. And while that works for gaining an audience/voters its catastrophic when it comes to running a country.

Trump is essentially a self serving. He'll do anything to further his own power and wealth. Ryan is more ideological in how he wants to attack poor people, he hates them while Trump just doesn't care about them. Paul Ryan is willing to allow Trump do awful things for his own gain as long as he fucks over poor people along the way.

Ryan is just obsessed with this anecdotally. He works out a lot and so has disdain for those who he considers unhealthy "by choice".

Paul Ryan is one of those special kinds of idiots who thinks that some version of Rand's Objectivism is not only valid and universally applicable, but that the basis for objectivity is his own empirical experience, and that any relation of an experience counter to his own must be either due to a lack of intelligence/understanding, misinformation, or else be the willful fabrication of a communist.

Watch "You've been Trumped" and consider that thought that Trump "just doesn't care about" poor people.
I watched it way before there was even a hint that he'd run for president, or without any knowledge of his TV persona outside of "you're fired".
My thoughts were that he despised "poor people" with a vengeance.

I really like the work Rachel Maddow is doing lately. Her pieces are a bit lengthy, but coherent, and should be easy enough even for Republicans to understand. They probably don't watch MSNBC though, fake news and all. 🙂
