We're so far off at this stage that we need those 2 or 3 solid additions and someone a bit special if we want to win things.

I agree, but I think there's a small, outside chance the likes of Shezny, Ramsey and Vermaelen could kick us on that bit more. They're all potentially world class, so lets just hope they make the step up next year.

But as things stand we're definitely gonna need all our stars to align to do anything special.

Was just reading Arseblog and this week is apparently the anniversary of the Dennis Bergkamp signing. Wouldn't it be great to see that sort of ambition again?

Actually that would represent about £45-50M worth of investment on transfer fees alone, but you carry on won't you.

My point exactly- IMO, a Bergkamp type/big name signing would be worth as much or more than all 4 of those players put together (although admittedly, I haven't seen anything of that Ricky Alvarez kid)

Flo and Rex, some have suggested that we are no longer alluring to the 40m pound players. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try though; and as long as we still have Nasri, van Persie, Fabregas (and Denilson) on board, we can still try to market ourselves as a big club to the best players

We haven't been linked with a single player who isn't better than at least two of our squad options in their respective positions. You're lying to yourself if you think that isn't true.
