Because he's tried to build it on a shoe-string, more accurately; he had no choice but to try and build it on a shoe-string. And he has put together a very good squad with that considered, but you don't know until it comes to crunch time how players are going to contribute or react. Especially youngsters who are exposed to those pressures for the first time. In hindsight and with more calm, there are a few on that list who shouldn't be there, but a lot of them have shown either through their lack of ability, or lack of fight/determination/will to win, whatever you want to call it, that they just aren't good enough for this club, not for me anyway - and it's up to Wenger to act on that, and remove the players, that, for him, haven't give enough or proven good enough this season.
There are still plenty of players in the squad that I am happy with, and I do think are good enough and want it enough, so it's not all bad. Szczesny, Fabianski, Sagna, Kosicelny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Fabregas, Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcott, van Persie. Clichy, Djourou, Song and Nasri aren't all bad either, they just irritate me for different reasons. That's a big chunk of the squad right there.
