Yes, Wenger ponders too much.
The past couple of seasons he’s just been tinkering with the squad, making sideways or stop-gap signings in order to avoid changing “the deep structure” and “the deep balance of the team”.
He really needs to be gutting it of some the dregs and looking to replace them with the type of players who would fit straight into the starting XI of any Top 4 team and who will change the overall balance and mentality of the current squad.

This time last year I mentioned Hulk was a player I liked and I thought suited the wide role in our team, and there was no one who really agreed. Just shows what goals do for a player's reputation.

Ricky, what do you hope to see next season at left back? Clichy sold, Gibbs promoted, expensive signing or what? Would you be happy with Gibbs promoted and given a run in the side with Clichy kept on as back-up and somebody who can come in if Gibbs fails to perform?

For some reason I thought the one when Hulk done Luiz by the byline was Coentrao, my mistake. Awful from Luiz.

I'd love Gibbs to get the chance, but am worried that he might just break down after 5 games and leave us high and dry in September. It's definitely a gamble. Ideally we'd have Clichy there as a fail-safe but that's not happening in the real world, so maybe if another very good centreback comes in we can use Vermaelen there as an when it's needed?

Falcao's a much smarter and aware footballer, without question, but Hulk's power is ridiculous. You look at someone like Nani doing well in the League, Hulk is like a supercharged version of him.

Falcao would score insane numbers at United though. Thank Christ they'll stick with 'Chicarito'.

It's Luiz's personality that makes him such a valued player; his output is not that much better than Koscielny's in pure performance/result terms.

Nah, he's got impressive ability too but personality (in a football sense) makes alot of difference.

Using an example a bit closer to home; Walcott, for instance, is someone who I feel has alot of personality on the pitch. Generally, he'll back himself and get a result because of it. Nasri, even though he is a better pure footballer in pretty much every way, doesn't have that same 'aura' about him. Ramsey vis-a-vis Diaby would be another example.
