Not saying you're wrong, but the only thing we really have to go off is pre-season where he was very good. Good enough even that Wenger wanted to keep him around rather than send him on loan.

Exactly, and the prospect would flatter Nasri who has repeatedly mentioned wanting a central role.

Just having "two of everything" and only ever playing one way is a liability as well. It makes us one-dimensional and there's no question that with key players out, our A game suffers.

Our defensive core needs redundancy, among our creators, wide players and forwards we need great variety and quality.

If we were able to flip Chamakh for a profit after 12 months, that would be some business. For it to happen though, it would probably require his initiative

Well if Chamakh goes, i'd want Bendtner to go too. Bring in a quality striker and Hazard, use Theo as 3rd choice with JET given a chance.

Reality is, both are pretty rubbish. I still have a little hope that Bendtner might get better, but Chamakh was just a crap signing.

Ha thats my worry if we sell Chamakh, Bendtner would be kept by default. I think i just want him out regardless.

I was impressed by him in pre-season too, but tactically he has a lot to learn. For him to come straight in and adapt quicker than Wilshere did - in other words, without the loan spell first - well, it's just not going to happen.

He doesn't have to make a Wilshere-esque impact though, does he? Jack came in and became an important first XI member right away. We'd be looking more for someone to come on, usually at the end of games at first, and maybe playing against some of the league's lesser lights when Song needs a rest.

Ok, we've been burned in the past by giving players the above role without them being good enough even for that (see the likes of Rosicky and Denilson this season), but if maybe Frimpong is at that sort of level.

There seems to be an assumption that he is a gonner but I honestly do not think he is going anywhere. Wenger is a stats man and and Denilsons stats are always impressive (go figure), we may not like him but he does what Wenger asks him to do. I'd love to see the back of him just as the next man but we don't make the decisions!

i don't think he is suited to us but I also think he is underrated by Arsenal fans, Denilson imho represents good value at £8m to a team like Villa or them sort

Maybe that's true, but if next season Frimpong gets anything like the amount of games as Rosicky has got in this one, then I'd be worried.

He's basically a player that runs around crunching into people, there really isn't much else to him, not that I've ever seen anyway - and I'm not saying he can't become a good player, because he can, he just has a lot to learn.

I also have the feeling that Denilson will not be sold in the summer (Al and Rosicky will) but, that is more down to the fact that Wenger would want to give Coquelin/Frimpong a chance and getting a good defensive midfield player would "kill them".

At the same time, he can't expect them to be the first back up because of their lack in experience. So, he'll keep Denilson there and give these two a shot to overtake him based on their performances. Once/if one of Frimpong/Coquelin (mostly Frimpong) is clearly ahead of Denilson in the pecking order, he'll be sold.

Kinda similar to what happened(or is going to happen) with Almunia.

New player is not brought in because the manager trusts the youngsters. But, the pathetic old first choice is retained, in case, the young guys don't fit in/are not good enough. But, this would actually work only if Frimpong/Coquelin actually turn out to be good like Sczesny/Fabianski did.

I think, Wenger would observe both over the pre-season before taking the final call but I also have the feeling that he'd finally decide to not buy.

Thats my guess too.

I think we're looking at:
Out: Almunia, Rosicky and Arshavin
In: Arsh replacement (possibly Hazard), Lansbury and one or two loanees returning, and your typical Wenger cheap youngster.

I think one of Denilson/Clichy/Eboue could possibly be sold and replaced by a quality player if they are available on the cheap however.
