Either way I try to look at it I come to the same conclusion every time - 2 weeks before the league began we had a squad that could have competed for trophies. The manager, and I am positive it was his decision, CHOSE to give that up by selling Song and RVP.
Before those sales it was the first time in 7 years where we had both top class quality AND decent squad depth. Why does the manager ALWAYS leave us short? If he for some reason felt he HAD to sell those two, which he didn't, then he certainly should have made certain they were properly replaced.
He should be fired for those two decisions alone, never mind what he has put us through the past 7 years.
Rex, have you forgotten Van Persie's statement, it's not like the guy was banging down our door to sign a new contract for crying out loud.
What about Song and David Dein pissing off the club with their demands and whoring himself out to Barcelona.
Those two players were sold because they WANTED to be sold, simple as that.
Sure we let them go but in both cases it was 90% them pushing their foot out through the door. Player power means a lot these days and when a player wants to leave and I mean really want to leave then there's fuck all you can do about it, just ask Spurs about the Modric deal or Man Utd about Ronaldo.
