Based on thinking that replacing van Persie with anything other than a twenty plus league goal per season player is a serious step backwards, just wondering where we're going to get another twenty plus striker who we can sign for Arsenalwenger style money and wages.

Rooney, Aguero, Nene, Giroud, Huntelaar, Gomez, Ledandowski, Dost, Malki, de Jong, Mertens, Messi, Ronaldo, Benzema, Higuain, Falcao, Ibra, Milito, Di Natale, Cavani, Cardozo and Lima - hmmm Bas Dost it is then 🙂

(OK 🙂 that list isn't exhaustive - I've not looked at all of the European leagues and didn't look outside Europe at all)

Unless Podolski really is already the replacement?
Can he step up next season and do what van Persie did this season because that's what we'll need from him if Robin goes.

I'm actually very curious about Bas Dost - anyone know anything about him other than he's 22, scored 32 Eredivisie goals, 0 assists and plays for Heerenveen.
Is he just purely a poacher?

I looked at youtube a while back when that Das Boot story emerged. Not even the clip compilations made him look good. Looks like a terrible footballer.

Given the impact of Henry, I wonder if a veteran signing, like Del Piero, or indeed like Henry again, might be possible?

Don't think he'd quite fit in the way we play but out of all the veteran's he's probably the one performing close to a high level.

Me too. Been thinking that since I saw the quality of his goals against Bilbao.
Pure class, can't imagine he'd get too rusty if confined to being an impact sub.
Think he has zero interest in playing in England though.

I'm going to keep my wish list simple this summer. I just want Shinji Kagawa, Chung-Yong Lee and a holding midfielder. He doesn't even have to be expensive or particularly experienced. Just a solid player with good technique and a positional sense. I think that Yennaris might be able to do a job there for us in a couple of seasons but we need someone who's ready to play meanwhile.
