Would have made sense last summer. He was quality last season as well. Can´t see Wenger being ready to pay a no doubt hefty transfer fee for a 29 year old player.

I'm sitting here thinking. A man who has been involved in 27 goals, is still improving, lives right in London, doesn't get Champs League football, and plays for a team that can't afford to pay him more than we give Chamakh. Can't think of an easier sell (to the player at least).

means nothing, andy johnson's been up there too. dempsey's a solid player, but as a starter, his level is newcastle/liverpool/spurs.

i know it's a wenger cliche, but we really don't have space/time/money for anything other than top class signings. we already have two guys at dempsey's level - we need someone a cut above if we seriously want to go for trophies at home and abroad.

Kami, while what you say is true, what is the chance that these 'cut above' players arrive this summer?
I don't necessarily think that Podolski 2011/2012 has had a better season than Dempsey from the few games I've watched. That's the level Arsenal recruits at.
We are NOT getting Goetze, Hazard, Neymar or any other exotically named youngster. Dempsey, for the reasons stated above, seems to me a very safe recruit for us. Given that we likely have Podolski, he wouldn't be a priority, but if we don't have the German, then I'd be happy with Dempsey.

Podolski's record for a team struggling with relegation is more impressive, in addition he's got international pedigree and entering into his prime as opposed to Dempsey who is nearly 30. Comparisons between the two are a no-brainer.

Wilshere to play a full season
Productive goalscorer with natural touch to come off the bench instead of Chamakh (Podolski, maybe)
Santos level RB

I agree, but Dempsey is really a bloody effective player. He is so versatile and scores from everywhere and all sort of different goals.

I would take him to replace Chamakh or Park

I'd take him. Sooner or later he'll grow up. He's a retard in fairness but all he needs to turn it around is real guidance. Think Wenger could turn him into one hell of a player. His talent is too rare to pass on if he's available for realistic money. I'm pretty sure he'll be playing for Milan next season though.

I used to think he'd prosper under Wenger but right now I think he's a lost cause, for the forseeable future anyway.
I think he might have some way to fall before he gets the message, maybe he never will.

Half of the stories about him are fabricated and there is a small tinge of witch hunting in some of the reporting of his 'incidents'. There are plenty of players who aren't angels when they're younger and it gets brushed over or forgotten; just look at VanPersie and Rooney.

If ManCity want rid at a decent price, I'd be well up for it.
