Park and Podolski as back up for RVP is as good as we realistically can hope for. Podolski would be a starter here anyway, just not for RVP.
We have 3 great CBs IMO, and Djourou and Miquel/Bartley as 4th and 5th choice. I´d gladly go into next season with those players.
I think we are a bit weak at FB cover with Jenkinson and Gibbs, but those two getting games, preferably not at the same time though, won´t make or break our season. I can live with that.
I really don´t see the need for another defensive minded central midfielder when we have both Coquelin and Frimpong coming through. I know Frimpong is out long term, but people need to remember the start of last season when Wilshere broke through. Diaby, and I know of his history with injuries, played instead of Song and did so very well IMO.
In Coquelin we have also seen that he can be that versatile player filling in at both RB and LB if needed. In other words - why get a Vertonghen when we have a bigger talent already at the club who will need games? Makes no sense.
Spunk all we have, and then some if necessary, to get a Podolski like player and a Kaka like player. In other words - focus on top class players instead of good ones.
