But to be honest, the masses are starved for a hero. They want to see a big name holding a press conference.

You get the point. I am not hoping for much. Our squad is in quite a dire state with all the deadwoods and we are struggling to go into top 4. We need to go a step up to ensure top 4 status before we can challenge for the title.

Valbuena or Honda for e.g. would be a good upgrade on Ramsey, although we should really be looking at Hazard Gotze or even Kaka. But none of them wanna join us. Thats the problem. In the past back in the 2004 days those players would be drooling at the prospect of joining us.

Right now we are looking at no signings and putting up with Arshavin Chamakh etc. I can bet we will finish outside top 4 no matter how much Spuds Pool and Chelsea fluff their lines. Wenger will again try to do something in the summer when its too late.

agree with that, but i just cant see wenger doing that as arsenal manager.

...and Gervinho is an upgrade on Theo and Rosicky, so you see how that doesn't help us. What's worse is that I'd be surprised if we were actually able to attract any super players. At the moment we're just signing UEFA cup players.

There's a happy medium though. We can certainly attract and afford to sign good quality footballers that will improve us and get us heading in the right direction again. And once you've steadied the ship you might persuade a budding star to come and be one of the centre pieces of a competitive team.

At the moment we just seem happy to slowly drift out of all contention, which is baffling.

Look at it this way though, if we'd have had both the Toure brothers we'd have gotten rid of Gallas alot earlier.

This summer I want us to build a team that can play quick, purposeful attacking football, a team that can press the ball ferociously and defend as a compact unit when it's needed, with players that know what they're doing in all phases of the play from defence to attack, including corners and free-kicks at both ends of the pitch, and a team that has real spirit and determination and pride in the shirt - and a manager that can make that happen.

So either Wenger drastically changes a lot of the methods he has used in the last few years - which I accept is obviously very unlikely - or I would like to see a new manager come in at the end of the season that will be able to instil as many of those qualities in the team as is possible.

It's all a little bit fanciful maybe, but that's the team I'd love to cheer on every weekend, and it's not the team we have right now.

My wish is simple, just get rid of the dross we have in our team. (Arshavin Benayoun Chamakh Squillaci Almunia Mannone Diaby). No matter how far are they from the first team now they are still taking up wages and if injuries strike they will play for us and I hate to see that. We will be much better after that with new signings from the transfer fees and massive wages freed up. Promote some youths like Miyaichi and Lansbury Bartley Martinez etc who have better desire and talent to perform and on less wages.

Oh and if a big bid comes in for Walcott we should accept too.

Indeed Rick thats what we all want, ffs is that too much to ask for???

I can take the odd defeat by a very good team, I can even take the odd defeat due to bad luck or bad decision from a ref.
But I can't accept any more of this same shit year in year out.
