Lille finished bottom of their Champions League group, wonder what Lille would do if we went in with €30M in January and Hazard really pushed for it to happen (as I suspect he would)?

We've been under-investing for so long that it might be worth paying over the odds just to kick-start the team building effort. If we can get a bargain, that would be best; but we must not finish this transfer window without an important addition

I'm pretty sure Wenger gets angsty when the forwards don't click so there will be one or two players coming in.

Not sure most of those names will move in January, even if you pay good money, Dortmund will be fully aware that they can get the same amount over the summer while having him for an extra six months. Podolski seems like the most sensible option.

Hazard is my #1 want. He'll go to Madrid in the summer though I reckon.

We'll get a bargain bin version of him though I'm sure.

I get the feeling that Hazard will be another Nasri and see us as a stepping stone for his career. He's already expressed his desire to play for Real Madrid or whatever. Not sure if want.

We will be a stepping stone for any premier player who isn't an Arsenal fan at heart. We can't compete with the big clubs, and our lack of investment right now will lock us out of contention for 3-4 years after FFP kicks in.

Only to an extent. I don't think Arteta views us as a stepping stone nor does Vermaelen or Santos or Mertesacker. Obviously they expect the club to match their professional ambitions but they're not here to develop themselves.

And Hazard's already got himself enthralled by the possibility of moving to Madrid or whatever which makes me like him less than someone like Goetze.

What makes you think Goetze doesn't harbour the ambition of playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona one day? In other words, what makes you think he won't want to leave for the best and most successful teams if we're not one of them?

We should be looking to sign the very best players out money can get us, and then trying to turn Arsenal into a club that no one in their right mind would want to leave.
