Without picking on individuals in our team, what is most disappointing for me is how easily they contained us.
We had many more threatening moments in the game we lost against pool at the start of the season.
It seems to be happening more frequently now. We've been figured out a bit.
We need to find a way to play to the strengths of Ozil and Sanchez. Santi playing means they can both concentrate on their thing, getting balls where and how they want them - him out means they need to do a lot of stuff that takes them out of their preferred positions. I'd actually have Giroud leading the line in such cases, and play Sanchez instead of big Alex (as he's mainly creating anyway).
But we need another midfielder like Santi. it's true we are blessed with better players now (Xhaka and Neny compared to Flam and Art), but for now they are no where near Cazorla. If in the future either Ramsey or Xhaka up their creative contribution, they may be the solution (and vs small and mid teams they could do it together). But I doubt they'll ever be able to do what Santi does. If Jack had a brain then he would have been an option, but I don't think he'll ever match Santi.Â
