Well, what is a Yemeni anymore? Saudis were saying it was IRG operatives in Yemen fighting with the Houthis. While I don't believe them as a rule, it doesn't seem like an implausible theory.

New leaks from January show that the US are planning to split Syria up along the Euphrates and set up a permanent military presence to the East of it, the UK, France Saudi Arabia and Jordan are in on it

Interesting that it's David Satterfield again where the leaks are coming from, shows again that in terms of foreign policy the figure head in the White House doesn't matter

I had a bit of a look around for English language versions of the story and found some interesting stuff. There is a lot of convincing detail that has been leaked.

In a way it's fairly humdrum since we already more or less knew the US's strategic position, but on the other hand it is very damning.

It's an idiotic idea that I hope never gets implemented, but I'm in no way surprised. That's always the strategy, create more borders, promote division. We do it to ourselves, why wouldn't we do it to the rest of the world given the chance?
