He did really well when he came on though, so credit where it's due. I think he's been building a bit of form lately.

Bringing on Ox was a no brainer for me. Especially playing at home with a team that doesn't hang it's hat on defence. Swansea are desperate and pouring forward recklessly. Also tiring. Bring on fresh legs and pace down the wings where they are most vulnerable, hurt them on the counter.

I'd not go as far as to say he is building anything though. He came on and did what he was supposed to do this instance. I wouldn't start him in any of our next few games apart from as a tactical measure.

Yeah he spoilt a lot of great moves by a bad touch or just lack of awareness. Still created a goal though.

If Liverpool wins tomorrow they will go joint-top as well. Haven't been this tight at the start of the season.

In fairness a lot of their crosses were from fairly deep. It's a lot harder to score from a header like that

Sanchez had a potential 1 v 1 with the keeper but his touch was poor which took him out wide , so he tried to lob the keeper but missed the target.

Our front 4 was quiet except Theo.Midfield and defence were good bar Monreal. Kos outstanding! !

Yup. Crossing to head from that far out is a low percentage play.

The ease with which any half decent winger gets past Monreal nowadays however, that's something we should be really worried about.

They had height advantage over us and kept winning headers in our box. It was risky to allow so many crosses in the box. We needed to push up and double up on Barrow. That Swansea side is very slow

Sanchez has become a false 9, he's getting a lot of assists and pre assists.

Özil seems to have more goals in him this season. He's starting to look a bit like the Werder Bremen player who left for Real. I think Wenger has done good work here to undo some of the damage past coaches did.

Most of his goals are first time finishes as well. Makes you wonder if it's a mental thing. He has the technical ability to score loads.

I personally don't think so, his anticipation is good, generally reads the game well, tucks in when he should, good in the air for a back, but has always been ropey against pace. Coq and Kos mostly act as a cover for him but we were mostly down to 10 men when Coq was on the pitch today.

I have always felt Monreal defends more like a midfielder, hence why I used to say we should try him there in the absence of Coq.

No, those headers were relatively weak which is what I was trying to say. If we pushed up they'd have had a better chance to get in behind and whip in a more dangerous cross which we would have struggled with more

We played the numbers and it was a good move. Yes, we could have conceded either way but it would have required something special from Swansea

He's never been good one on one against quicker opponents, but he used to have the sense to avoid getting exposed. Right now all you need to do to beat him is to knock the ball around him and run.

Felt Xhaka was off right from the start (I was murmuring "sub him off and put coq on" from around 30 mins in the game... wayyyy before the gift goal and the idiotic tackle).

Kos... had just one moment I felt a defender can actually do a bit better. Other than that he's had a perfect game. And it starts looking like just his normal level. I know people think it's a bit much, but I can't think of a better center back out there.

Mesut was fired up... and had a great game (happy brithday, Mesut!). Santi is just football IQ personified. Wenger was asleep around 50-65 minutes with subs. We nearly paid 2 pts for that. Monreal.... jeez. We must act ASAP. And the Gibbs sub was F'ing late again.

Give Ox a break, will you? we had 10 men on and hanging on for dear life - it was obvious running feet are needed. and he could have left the field today with some assists to his name +showed maturity and a calm head (which some lacked) towards the end.

Theo really should have had 4 today, no?

Pheww. Should have been so easy, but so happy with the pts in the end.

I think what they did wrong was head the ball straight at goal even when there was hardly any pace on the cross, they should have tried to head it back to another Swansea player on knocked it down for someone to shoot.

Pushing up could have contained them better IMO because we had pace advantage over them, so it would have been difficult for them too get behind us (cos we'll beat them to the ball) and have the chance to put dangerous crosses in. I felt we played into the advantage they had over us (height) by allowing so many crosses in. The aim should have been to prevent those crosses coming in or at least reduce them.
