It was dangerous play though. There's no way around it.

Dangerous play is something like booting a ball while someone is trying to head it, an offence which is never penalised with a sending off as long as no contact occurs

What you mean is called "serious foul play". The direction from where the challenge comes from doesn't apply for this rule either btw, just whether the ref deems it to be lunging in, using excessive force or endangering an opponent's safety. Basically the rules give the ref a lot of leeway and while I think often enough refs don't protect players enough in England Moss was being a dumb piece of shit to send Xhaka off.

If Xhaka's foul was a red card you'd see a lot more red cards given during a season. For example I've noticed Lamela make tonnes of similarly cynical fouls to stop a counter attack and he has never received a red card for it. The lack of precedent is what made the red card decision wrong.

Nah the lack of precedent makes all previous decisions wrong.

Dangerous in the reality where you can easily snap someone's achilles with a tackle from behind. After all the bad injuries we've suffered throughout the years it would be dishonest to condone that behaviour just because Xhaka happens to turn like a slug.

Its dishonest to equate that tackle to a tackle from behind, especially one that has the potential to snap some ones Achilles.

It was a bad tackle, and cynical. Let's not minimize it just because it went against us. It could have swung either way, like Wenger said "bright orange". Ref went with red. We have the squad to cope with it so it's no big deal, move on.
