Good to see Iwobi have a decent game and more importantly making a difference in the final third. Used his body really well to retain possession too on more than one occasion. Let’s hope he can step up this season.
Yep plenty of potential there.
He's getting his dues right now because he scored but even without the goal he was one of our best players. Plenty of performances like these in the past for him too, but they've gone unnoticed or unappreciated because Arsenal weren't in a good place at the time.
Only player in the second half who was able to hold onto possession and buy us some time.
One of the most impressive moments of the match, for me, was when he held off Rudiger with pure body strength.
Really impressive game from him.
He needs a defined position and role in order to take his game to the next level.
So what position do we think he's best suited to? Wide (#7/11)? CM (number eight)? AM (#10)?
He was brilliant especially in the 1st half. Wish he would take players on more, he's got it in him.

The Hleb role but with added strength. He's most comfortable being the pre-assist dude.
to use emery's lingo, an 8-10, but not a 10-8.
one of those guys who can hold a ball under pressure. Unfortunately sometimes this means he holds onto it too long, but I guess that comes with the package with such players.

Hleb played as a wide playmaker, whereas Emery uses genuine wingers in his preferred set up.

So a replacement for Rambo then as CAM? Considering Emery prefers a 2 CM midfield.

yup.
Might be worth experimenting with Iwobi as CAM in this new system, in which he wouldn't be expected to be your typical creator. The thing is we need his strength and close control out wide too.
we need pace and end product out wide.
Some form of physicality and athleticism, yes. Iwobi isn't ideal either, but who else is? Nelson would be my pick, but managers are hesitant to give him a go.
Anyone but Ozil and Mkhitaryan.
I’m glad he scored. It was getting a bit painful hearing people always talk about how they don’t see the point of him when the whole team is a shambles and he has learned to make shit up as he goes along throughout his entire football career.
I suspect he is one of those we will see thrive under Emery. I hope so at least.
Big hopes for this fella.

Not just painful, ignorant.
I have no idea whether Iwobi will ultimately come good but most of us on here have been watching football for long enough to know better when it comes to writing off 22 year olds.
