He's given a job and he does it with gusto. Just start Xhaka instead against weaker teams.
If you like him as much as you say, you could at least make the effort to spell his name correctly.
I don't think he is underrated at all. All Arsenal fans I know or read opinions of on the web hold Coquelin in high regard. Question only is if he is first XI material at a club with aspirations of the League/ CL. He does cover up for his inadequacies through his work rate and effort.
I don't think his quality is in question as much as how he fits the team and the kind of football Wenger is trying to play. I'd happily have a Xhaka-Coq midfield most of the time if they attack was up to scratch.
Efficient player when he used to realise his limitations.
Now he tries to do more than his ability.
I'd have taken the 10-15m difference and signed Kante.

He's clearly instructed to do what he's doing right now.
I don't think he's clearly instructed to lose the ball with passes beyond his ability or diaby-esquely trying to do much solo.
You're wrong then, because that's word for word what Wenger is telling him to do.
I can't take it anymore - I had to correct the spelling.
Or Schneiderlin eh? :boris:
Schneiderlin 😆 One for Rex that guy. Terrible footballer.
You pretty much know what you'll get from Coquelin which is a plus.
He'll get lots of game time as he's very much a hand brake off player. Wengs sees him as the new Mat Flam
Don't think he is underrated. Think he is held in high regards by many and rightly so.
He is really good for what he does and is an extremely useful player for any top team. Always loved his attitude.
I agree. The only criticism of him is that he is limited which is true. As a matter of fact i think i overrate him because we had been starved of a midfield tackler for so long.
plays ahead of the deepest midfielder these days, whether that's cazorla or xhaka. i don't mind him pushing up a bit and harassing higher up the pitch, he has decent recovery pace to chase things down
I think that new position is the reason our defenders are being over-worked. I'm assuming it's tactical and even though we have had positive results, i don't like it.
definitely has downsides. there were moments when the space in front of kos and mus was cavernous. i would like to think that if we play a team that has strong AMs that coq will drop back to occupy the space in front of the back 4
He can only do what his managers instructs him to do.

Schneiderlin's better than Coquelin
I really don't understand what at though. Surely not at football whilst playing central midfield.
