How far forward? People are saying if he keeps his form for the season we should sell him. If he keeps his form all season I'd be looking at what he's likely to offer the following season, not 2 or 3 years down the line. Thats what fucked us over during the Denilson, Diaby, Bendtner, Fabregas years. You've got to focus on the here and now.

Our Theo is a strange one. How can you be so shit barely 6 months ago, and look so good now.

He is definitely thriving in the new found fluidity and space this system with a solo mobile striker affords us.

Also not mentioned much is his improved chemistry with Bellerin.

His new found focus on the defensive end seems to have liberated him offensively.

As, all I am saying is don't feel compelled to extend Walcott because he finally shows a hint of quality after we've suffered ten long years. Extend him because you see him contributing over the next three or four years.

Something for sure happened in the summer. Quite probably it was simply that he was told he's getting sold and Alexis will be developed into ST instead of him and if he ever wanted a career in a club as serious as Arsenal he'd better shape up. Quite probable even that when no club better than West Ham came in for him, he realized what his alternatives are and humbled himself and accepted he's best utilized as RW.

Wouldn't give him any new contracts myself. He will be in his prime physically till his current contract ends, after that it's downhill for him imo. And when he loses his pace he won't be half the player.

I thought the idea of selling players once they turn good was what we have criticized Arsenal for in the past.

Let's just see how he gets through this season before we talk about extending his contract - I mean his current contract will take him up till 2019 anyway when he'll be 30.

No one has actually suggested giving him a new deal, it was suggested that we sell him if he has a good season.

Cesc was gone in 2012/13.

The difference between that Theo and the Theo of the past 3 seasons was graft.
He was making regular runs and getting into shooting/crossing positions.
The Sagna point is also salient.

I don't think Walcott was that good in 12/13. He scored most of those goals coming off the bench, and then his end product almost completely dried up past Christmas. He's had much better seasons for us.

Mista T is right, Walcott did play very well w/ Cesc, Van Persie, et al. But those years were 2010-2012 as Fabregas left at the end of 2010/2011 and then Van Persie the following year.
