Its hard to call them just greedy IMO. There is no doubt Alexis at least can move to a more ambitious team who will try harder to win things. Probably Ozil too. I find it hard to blame them if they are willing to honour their contracts and then leave given the lack of progress since they joined. Now we are out of the CL and not really doing a whole lot about it. What reason do they have to stay?

Interesting idea, but it just means more money going into the players' pockets rather than staying in the game.

I just don't think that's the reason. Both have said on a few occasions that they want to stay and that it's up to the club which suggests it's over money. It fits with their age too, it's their last big contract. If it was really about success, they'd be pushing for a move now because at 29 they've no time to waste.

Why would they want to stay? Maybe they are happy, settled and if they get their way, very well paid.

Well Sanchez pushed for a move but we weren't forthcoming. There is nothing negative about being a decent professional when that happens. Ozil didn't seem to have interest from better sides so maybe he feels next year if he offers more value as a free agent he can move up. And yeah I'm sure like everyone else they wont turn down more money.

As I say we offer very little reason for either of them to sign a new deal.

It's always going in to someone's pocket - the players are far more deserving than anyone else.

At this stage I think they and their gent just see ££££s after the contract is done and are happy to run it down and get a new massive deal and sign on elsewhere. Issue will e when the going gets tough these guys will be looking at preserving themselves as they are out the door.

Ozil spent how long "sick" last year? Sanchez will give 100% but he might second look the hard stuff towards the tail end on this season.

Wenger went into quite a bit of detail on the injury and said it showed up on a scan so I'm going to take this at face value.

I doubt it - all the smoke coming out of Wenger's fights with the Board and so on wouldn't be happening if Sanchez were off. We would in that case be hearing leaks about how Sanchez is being unprofessional and so on. I suspect this is Wenger's way of telling Gazidis to come out and front up if he wants to take the cash and not let Alexis go on a free next season after the fairly public fight they (Wenger and Gazidis) had in the second half of last season.
