whereas keeping him with the expressed intent to regain top4 & then failing would destroy any credibility about the club and why we've persisted with AW and resisted change,
and the club would end up with egg on it's face re the current extension for AW as well as destroying any legacy in terms of style of play etc, philosophy, values and policy.

he's apparently in paris meeting with the psg director today. The cynic in me feels we've given him permission to talk to them and we're waiting to see what kind of offer we get. 50m now or 0 in 6 months is probably how PSG will position it

Maybe it's me but, even without top 4, this is worth more than £50m.

Even double that is a bargain, if Lemar is worth £80m even though he is pushing 30 years of age.
He trains like a maniac so i don't expect him to fall off just because he has reached Wenger's "artificial" retirement age.
I've said it before but i felt we lost him when Wenger punished him for calling our shit defenders shit.
Not blaming Wenger entirely because he had to stand up for them (especially after the captain Koscielny had done so)

Bouhfasi of RMC reporting PSG in advanced talks for both neymar and sanchez.

The PSG chairman also runs beinsports, which Wenger is a pundit for, so they have a working relationship. I seriously doubt PSG have been talking to Alexis without wengers consent

I think we'll buckle tbh. Hopefully we get our business done first

selling sanchez to PSG for £100m would be awful, but if we reinvest that £100m right away, then i am fine with it.

selling sanchez and not properly replacing him right now would be a terrible mismanagement by wenger, but given that wenger does not give a shit anymore, i would not be surprised at all. maybe we'll give sanchez's wages to theo and put him on £250k per week. he deserves it!

If we can't get mbappe as a replacement i don't think we should sell Alexis at any price. However i can see how keeping him could be problematic if he really really doesn't want to be here anymore

I rate lemar but we'd have gone backwards if he was the Alexis replacement

The more I watch Lemar the less I rate him. Not a difference maker other than a decent cross, not worth it in the slightest. Good potential but I'd almost prefer Mahrez if we're really trying to sign him as an attacker rather than a wingback or CM.

Mahrez sucks at lw, as does ozil. Buying mahrez as a Sanchez replacement creates selection headaches, whereas lemar has versatility on his side which is probably why he's our number 1 target. Neither is close to being a Sanchez replacement

Who would we replace him with though? That's the problem, I genuinely can't think of any player that could replace his goals/impact that would be in any way realistic. Could we try and get Cavani as part of the deal? Highly unlikely.

If we do sell Sanchez then we had better get used to being a Europa level club.

If we sell Sanchez and reinvest the money in some Mahrezes and Barkleys, I won't even bother with next season. It's the kind of thing I expect this management to do. And still take home some 10m pounds between Gazidis and Wenger.

Honestly, he's a great player and all, but he did play those games we lost (and give the ball away cheaply a billion times to boot). I agree with Claud, that scenario would be a disgrace, but mostly because it would be another step in ruining the experience of actually watching Arsenal. I'm not sure it'd make a whole lot of difference to our actual results, all told.

If he does go might be best to spend the money on a world class centre mid or centreback as it's tricky to replace Alexis directly

IIRC that's because he was likely trying to either make something happen in the final 3rd, or he was getting caught in possession behind play because he was isolated with no support with the rest of the team lined up static across the front of the opposition area waiting for a pass to feet = context.

I don't get statements about he should stay on and play his part to regain CL - how much more do they expect him to need to do ? The reality is that it was not Sanchez who failed to perform or to contribute, so why should he remain if the club does not match his ambition or the players his efforts?

Sanchez is brilliant but the above are mostly excuses. He does give the ball away a lot, for us, for Chile and did frustrate when he was at Barcelona as well.
