Contrary to what was earlier being reported, think players are very comfortable playing for him. I think both would have stayed if their financial demands were met had we qualified for the CL but with no CL football next season, they are less likely to remain regardless of what we offer.

We should never let top players get into the last year of their contract. This club is a joke.

Yup, fully expect Alexis to leave and Ozil to leave next season on a free (or maybe a low price deal at the end of the window). Replacements to be Henry O, Iwobi and maybe moving Ramsey up into the forward line (or the 2 behind the striker depending on formation). Fornals (or some similar joker) for MF and Kolasinac on a free. That's our summer in a nutshell.

Won't be. They were promised serious investment and challenge for major trophies. That was the period we finally had money and reputation not that tarnished in europe.

Cech and a few other random signings later, we are even further than before.

Ozil doesn't have many suitors, so he can push but I'm not sure where the "pull" will come from...Turkey? AC Milan? PSG?

I would imagine we'll see him sign a shorter (₂-3 year) contract renewal on large wages, and I'm happy with that. He'll be someone we can offload in a few years for a reasonable fee.

Sanchez is off though, no way he'll be content playing in Europa and I think he'll see through our "war chest" stories. Think the club will see his "attitude" as a PR opportunity to spin why we're letting him leave.

Don't think he's satisfied playing with Welbeck / Giroud though he may have been calmed by the rise of our 3-4-3 with Ramsey-Xhaka as it definitely enabled him to play further up.

If I'm not mistaken, in some interviews Sanchez kind of emphasized how important his family is to him, how in the early days he promised to take care of his mother and so on, so I wouldn't be shocked if stuffing him money would be enough to keep him here (instead of going to, let's say, Bayern for relatively average wage). But yeah, if ManCity or PSG get involved, we won't offer significantly more than them.

Maybe but then joining is a much, much bigger step than deciding to stay. When we were linked with them the general consensus was that anyone who thought they'd actually sign for us was deluded. I was indeed very surprised, particularly with Mesut, far more surprised than I'll ever be if they signed on.

Everything Sanchez has said makes it sound like it's about the money. He want's to stay, it's up to the club etc. He also made clear that he loves it in London and wants to stay here. Mesut is another who seems pretty comfortable.

I'm inclined to think Alexit is guaranteed hence the desperation in offering world-record sums for Mbappe who they can then claim is his replacement.
I think the relationship soured after he was dropped from the first team line-up against Liverpool following the training ground spat.
What was left of it got broken after the club leaked those selective stats denigrating his work rate as if we don't have eyes to see who is putting in work and who is hiding on the pitch.

Missed that bit. Have to admit i'd be gutted if we actually got mbappe and sanchez was sold. We'd be standing still. as good as mbappe is he's not yet contributing at Sanchez' level
