I think it's more a case that AW decided to drop him because of his body language on the pitch of late, and that AW is not going to pay him the wages asked for & that Sanchez has reportedly made it clear that he is off in the summer.

AW continues to play players if there is no decision on their contract and there is an offer on the table.
Flamini,, Nasri, Sagna, RVP were all starters until they said they were off even when the likes of
RVP & Sagna has said for 2 seasons that they would not sign , which is why I feel that a decision has been made known re Sanchez.

I can't remember Wenger ever making a statement like that through team selection though. I don't think he'd start now with Sanchez. Players have done much worse to get transfers and not been dropped. Theres been more high level speculation around exiting players and they weren't dropped.

I think the closest was AA, & I think the other players you refer to were all AW's boys like Fabregas & RVP = he feels he made them and they'd stick by him as he had built the team play around them.

Does it even matter why he was left out? It was clearly the wrong move and is yet again another massive error in judgement from Wenger.

Nothing was learnt there as Sanchez was the same Sanchez when he came on and we looked utterly useless without him. I can't see Wenger trying to reinvent again as we tried after RVP left. That was our most recent team carried by a single player.

The real question is does it matter whether Sanchez played or not? Most likely we would've capitulated anyway. Kos goes off against Bayern and we ship 4 goals but was on the pitch yesterday when we shipped 3. We are very good at finding excuses and ignoring the root cause.

The only example I can remember of Wenger freezing out a player over a contract was Wiltord.

I think he benched Walcott a few years ago when he refused to sign a new contract too, but it might have been due to other factors.

It's definitely a point worth considering. You always want your best players on the pitch obviously, but it feels like every big game is an uphill struggle for us either way, and reglardless of whether it's Bould or Wenger on the sideline.

He is a man child the way he behaves to being subbed is pathetic. Sulking like a 10 year old in his jacket.

He must be a real pain to manage he wouldn't even adapt his style to the barca way of playing if he did he'd probably have ended up staying there. He just does his own thing.

He may as well just get on and play he's leaving at he end of the season anyway.

Nothing new here, rumour mill has gone into overdrive to deflect attention from the incompetent guy in charge.

These stories always come out about the so called contract rebels and they inevitably leave. Of course throwing Sanchez on at half time (rarity for Wenger btw) to try and save the day really hammered home the point. Don't be gullible. If this crap did happen he wouldn't be in the squad.
