Reading that Juve are confident of getting him. Surely we have as much financial clout as the to match anything they offer. Worth just doing it to get him back on contract then sell if we really can't afford it moving forward.

Our supposed transfer targets would suggest a player on the left hand side is potentially up for grabs. No talk of playmaker types being scouted though.

Once Wenger does leave we should replace Gazidis or get in a director of football, someone who can close deals and sell players for what they're worth. Someone who understands the transfer market and agents.

If the players want to leave fair enough, you can't do much about it. If it's true that we won't match the £250K pw wage demand then its scandalous. We charge top whack for fans to watch so completely hypocritical to then act like this.

£250k gives parity with top players, if they are playing like top players then you should pay them too whack. Instead we give garbage players far too much to maintain some bullshit socialist structure.

Yep. Can't fault them too much for being fed up with the way the club is run. A football career at the top usually only lasts 5-6 seasons. We're wasting their best years and we don't even have the decency to compensate them properly while doing it.

A balanced wage structure made a lot of sense 6-8 years ago when we couldn't attract top players anyway. It makes less sense in this day and age when we're drowning in tv money. It's pretty incredible that we didn't have any kind of plan for retaining the players once we got them here.

If you think back re Martial AW made his 'enquiry' and walked away.
After Martial went to ManU when asked why he hadn't made a bid AW said that he had been told that Martial was not for sale.
AW has said in the past that he will not force a club's hand to sell a player, and that he will not make an offer for a player if they are not for sale.

So putting 2 & 2 together, who the hell is going to say that their top players are for sale unless you make them an offer they can not refuse?
AW won't push the point and make an offer to test their resolve, so of course the result is that no top level players are available.
It's a self fulfilling BS excuse.

It's been stated again recently that one of AW's principles re his socialist wage structure is that no player earns more than the manager - it's a subtle power trip meant to indicate that the manager is always more important to the team than any player/s who can be sold and replaced as needs be, and with AW that replacement doesn't need to be like for like in position, role or quality.

That's because we found out about his release clause.

We generally don't hawk around clubs unless they show a willingness to sell or we can use a technicality like release clauses.

Yeah we didn't bid on Suarez we low balled his release clause and gave up immediately as soon and Liverpool shut up shop.

We have historically (1994 onwards) signed throw offs and talented youths. Bergkamp, Vieira, Overmars, Pires, Kanu, Henry, Ozil, Sanchez, Cech. We just need to ID more of those who are wrongly being let go.

I think neither are playing today because of the thread topic. AW is a petulant man when it comes to money, loyalty, etc. Couldn't care less about actual playing ability when it comes right down to it.

There seems to be a misconception that thinking Arsene Wenger should leave – before now, immediately or at the end of the season – is in some way disrespectful to his past achievements or his legacy. That’s simply not true

With Ozil absent and Arsenal facing a rival for a top-four place, do not underestimate how big a call it was for Wenger to leave out his best player on a point of principle. Sanchez had scored 33% of Arsenal’s league goals, assisted a further 23% and created 22% of their chances. It offers a serious hint that Sanchez’s relationship with Wenger and Arsenal is deteriorating.
So what now for Wenger, who has claimed all along that he would not sell Sanchez. It may not be his problem should he leave, but there is the very real possibility that his parting gift to the club will be a Europa League place and the club’s two best attacking players being sold on the cheap or leaving the following summer on a free transfer. Ouch.

I don't buy the idea that Wenger dropped Sanchez because he wont sign a deal. Wengers played plenty of players in similar situations and I don't think he'd have brought him at all if that was the case.
