Ox scored a good goal, but I'm not convinced at all. We've seen him do things like this before and then fizzle out for the rest of the season.

He has not shown that he can do things like this consistently for the duration of a single game, talk less of an entire season.

Lets get serious - Get rid.

Sorry, I would get rid of Theo every day of the week before Ox..

Me too, but I can see where flobaba is coming from.

I like Ox, both as a player and character and wouldn't sell him yet, but he definitely needs to chip in with a few goals and assists this season.

I agree with that, make or break year for Ox. But if Wenger likes him, he'll be at Arsenal this time next year whatever he does!

I don't agree that they are the same animal.  Ox has more in his bag of tricks than Theo does.  Theo solely relies(ed?) on pace and his ever disappearing finishing ability..  Ox has the pace, the strength and power that Theo does not (and never really had).  He can also take on players and beat them with a trick OR with speed.  Ox needs to work on his decision making once he beats his man though.

Not to mention that Ox is 4 years younger..   He may not have progressed at the pace we thought he might yet, but Theo has had the same problem over a much longer span.

i hate southampton. we paid them 40m for theo, ox and chambers and they are all garbage. but then sold bale to tottnumb for 5m and he turns into a world beater.

Oxlade is double the player Theo is. Theo is nothing more than an outlet. He scores the goals when the team play well and create chances for him.

Oxalde is capable of the sublime, and beats players on the outside as well as the inside at will. He has a great burst of pace and is a very handy tool, when fit. The problem is just that: injuries.

From the moment we signed him I thought he looked pure fire on the right hand side, he has a mixture of everything I've always wanted in a winger but he was, for some reason, played in the middle and talked up as a future central player with great passing, I don't agree with that.

I would love it if Theo went this summer for a good amount and Oxlade was told to battle it out with Alexis/possibly Mahrez. Speed and ability, rather than Theo just having speed.

oh and i'm glad the jeff and iwobi haven't really been about anything so far because wenger desperately wants these players to give him a false impression that they are ready so he can have an excuse not to buy.

I think we bank on these inconsistent, injury prone players for far too long. I'm willing to bet right now that Ox gets injured within the first 3 months of this new season. Then he comes back lacking in confidence and looking rusty and we say yet again: "give him another season". I'm just done with all that.

The only players who should be given that level of leeway are truly world class players. I think a player like Jack has the type of talent we can afford to persist with. Ox doesn't in my view.

Do you really believe that? People write about Wenger as if he's working for an enemy and he's here to just mess things up.

the enemy is his ego. if that wasn't clear with the nonsense waste of time that was sanogo. only an arrogant deluded man would look at sanogo and see arsenal caliber talent in there to unlock.

I get what you mean, it can be frustrating, but you just know Oxlade would move to Chelsea, stay fit and be the right winger Chelsea have been craving. You know he'd hit the ground running too.

Oxlade is special, I'd keep him unless him going meant we were looking at another winger, aka Mahrez.

Good preseason by Ox, although the same happened in last season's preseason. While, when it really mattered his end product diminished due to form/ injuries. This has to be season when he breaks through.

Aside from the obvious qualities Xhaka brings, my concern with him is that his lack of mobility could be exploited by opposition players going past him. It also means that at present, unless we're playing easier opponents, I'd only play him next to Coquelin/ Elneny (even he could work on his defensive ability). Although ideally someone like Ramsey can reign in his attacking positioning and play in CM next to Xhaka later on.

Was he really any good last pre season though? Goal against Chelsea aside

When you put it like that.

These Southampton transfers, if there is blame to be spread, and that is a big if, it seems like it's more about our scouting staff than Southampton...

We were all laughing at the scum when they couldn't win a match for ages when Bale was on the pitch.

It's more of how we develop them. We have done a really bad job with Chambers and ruined his potential more than anything.

Anyway, Holding had yet another good game.

He was great last pre-season, there was one game in particular that was very powerful.
