You've got to remember he was coming off an injury ravaged season and was not even good enough to be in Bournemouth's first choice midfield so, yeah, Coquelin and Ramsey were ahead of him when he decided to go.

I understand he needed games to build up his match fitness but we could've either inserted a recall clause, or negotiated a 6-month loan.

Talent-wise, only Santi can rival him in our central midfield.

After spending so much time out on the sideline here, it hurts watching him play week in week out for someone else now, and them benefiting from him being fully match fit when it should be us.

Wasn't our decision to loan him in the first place. If he wasn't impatient, he would have seen this opportunity coming.

On the other hand, were Wilshere to get his chance now, he'd be undoubtedly rusty like he was in his first few games for Bournemouth.

How often do you see that happen between Premier league clubs though? It's not Football Manager. It's equally hard to convince Bournemouth to give him a starring role in their midfield if it could change after six months. A club that starts every season trying to fight relegation will value stability over all else.

If Wilshere was still here he would have been injured, there's something wrong with Arsenal when it comes to injuries. You don't just go from not being able to play 90 mins in two years to playing week in week out for Bournemouth in the PL.

Yeah, you have to consider Bournemouth's position. They held off signing a permanent player because of the loan. Their wishes had to be taken into account too.

That made me laugh, but then I felt a bit bad for thinking it was funny given that he's disappeared.

I get that he was trying to replace/improve upon Coqzorla but these guys haven't shown themselves to be better (yet).

Ah right, my thinking would be that if either Elneny or Xhaka were really top drawer we wouldn't need to be tinkering and experimentin to see which midfield combo worked best.

All will be revealed in December I guess.

Cazorla is one of the top midfielders in the league in terms of technical ability, vision and creativity.
Improving on him would have cost a lot more than what Wenger was willing to spend.

Perhaps Xhaka and Elneny will blossom but they're currently not on the same level as Cazorla

I had high hopes for Xhaka but his lack of pace is shown up badly in our attacking set-up and this affects his ability to tackle/press effectively.
Elneny is hesitant so often misses the moment to pass and, though mobile, hardly engages in challenges and doesn't know how to press.

Xhaka is slower than i expected and his first touch is worse than i expected, but i think he needs time to adapt and that's what Wenger is working on.

Btw, i remember i read an article on him before he came and it said he had similar rough start at Mönchengladbach where it took him a few months to get up to speed.
