Never too much talk about the French league, but this league produces players like few others.

I've never taken too much interest in the league but I'm hoping I can change that next season.

I think BT sports shows some Ligue 1 matches. Most of them will have to be streamed.

Vincent Koziello reminds me of little Jack Wilshere.

Lyon look impressive. 2 games 2 wins, 5 goals 9 conceded. Lacaette with all 5.

The defence seems a bit leaky. However a 100% win record with a negative scored/conceded ratio is indeed pretty impressive.

Edinson Walcott:

To think that guy could have finished any half chance in the world with his eyes closed as little as three years ago. PSG have ruined him as a striker irrevocably.

Wow. Just wow. Worst one was when he rounded the goalkeeper and cut back but was so lacking in confidence that he looked like he passed it out of play for an injured player.

I thought you were one of those few who didn't think it was irrevocable.

movement is still great, touch is walcott-esque, finishing is way worse than walcott-esque. he looks busted

Shadow of what he once was, will probably still bag 20 in that league considering the quality of his teammates however

I used to think so but everyone reaches a point of no return. You can't relegate one of the best centreforwards in Europe to the wing for 3 straight years without doing some damage to his game.

Told ya guys. He wasn't that much better last season too, missed a whole load of good chances

He gets to chances though. Law of averages says that he will put away a fair few in the end. Compare that to our lot who hardly get into goal scoring situations at all.

i would still take a punt on him at 40-50m pounds given his advanced years. He just needs to be played at 9 and feel like he's the man. maybe he felt emasculated in the shadow of Ibra

50 million? Are you serious claud?

With Zlatan having left and there not being a striker out there they can swoop for without some potential difficulty, I can not see them allowing Cavani to leave even if the price is Β£50m.

It looked exactly like what Walcott is up to on most match days. Especially that run in behind followed by a horsy first touch that almost put the ball out for a goalkick.

Honestly, I can barely recall any game where any one player had as many class opportunities to score as Cavani had in that clip. Poor guy can't have slept a minute the night after that.

I can think of like 20 from last season off the top of my head. Γ–zil in particular played pass after pass that we squandered in front of goal. Walcott and Giroud missed 6-7 chances in each game on a regular basis. Really obvious ones too where they were either dragging their feet or just took a shit touch that forced them wide and saw the angle disappear. You could see how frustrated he was over it. Di Maria probably felt the same way last night while he was watching Cavani destroy every move.

Yeah, I don't agree with that at all.

Balotelli on his first start for OGC Nice bags a brace in a 3-2 win vs Marseille. Always had a soft spot for him, hope he can fulfill some of his early promise now that he's not at garbage clubs like Liverpool or City.

Nice look like a highly interesting outfit this season in general. Made a number of astute buys, their midfield especially with Koziello and Seri looks great. Even if they lost Ben Arfa (on a free to boot) I expect them to do well under Lucien Favre, doesn't come as a surprise they are joint top with Monaco at the moment.

Do you think he'll join PSG jones? πŸ˜† nice seem like the revival club...first with Ben Arfa and now with Balotelli.

I wouldn't be surprised Bryant, if Cavani is irrevocably damaged I could see PSG replace him with Balotelli. Emery is probably the best manager in the world when it comes to getting the best out of strikers so I wouldn't be against seeing that

OGC Nice look terrific, only team keeping up with them so far is Monaco and they destroyed them 4-0 a while ago. Favre as long as he doesn't hit one of his rotten runs is really up there with the very best in Europe tactically.

Balotelli on five goals in three league games now, more than double his tally in his last two seasons at Pool and Milan combined. His last came in the 86th minute to win Nice the match vs Lorient:

It being Balotelli he got booked for taking off his shirt and sent off a couple minutes later πŸ˜† Ref already admitted though after looking at the footage that he overreacted and it'll be most likely overturned

That looked a bit like one of those Pires/Henry screamers.

He has found his level

That makes no sense whatsoever. 13 league goals at 21 in England, 12 league goals in as many games for Milan at 22 but at 26 he's found his level in France scoring at a rate of 2 goals per game?

Could the penny have finally dropped with him? He always had supreme talent; if he realizes his potential he would be one hell of a player.

I was trashing him man. He is obviously a very talented player and entertaining too. His smug face winking at Rio Ferdinand still has me  πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

eddie cav seems to have stepped up in the wake of ibrahimovic leaving. 2 goals from him to beat lyon.

he can be very wasteful, but his movement and the amount of space he creates for himself is still top class. i remember he caught koscielny out with the type of runs in behind that kos usually covers easily, and he did it more than once.

Yeah he works very hard off the ball and that gets him quite a few more chances than the average striker.

His finishing when he isn't in form can be absolutely woeful though.

Monaco's pretty much have it sewn up now barring a major collapse. Need just 2 wins from their next 4 and the fixtures left are hardly going to be difficult. On course for 100 goals in a single league campaign as well. Pretty remarkable.

Don't know if it's just me but I always enjoy watching a big team lose their heads. It brings me so much joy and I'm not sure why. Watching PSG's lose their heads was pretty satisfying, almost as satisfying as watching Ramos admit defeat and blatantly just kick out as Messi when his side were 5-0 down.

Also, Balotelli. Love him or hate him, he's entertaining. Scored a great goal, pissed off Matudi with his showboating and was actually really good all through the game. Definitely worth looking at if we aren't gonna sign a superstar, he has all the ingredients to be absolutely top notch but could just as easily fade away. A 50:50 but with the position we're in its a gamble worth taking.
