Heh, Ronaldo goes 5th because he wants the glory of the winning one instead of stepping up first and putting his team on the board. Not the first time they've been knocked out before a shootout has got to him either. Love it.

I've been seeing that criticism of Ronaldo all over social media. I think it's fucking absurd. If you have to take the deciding penalty, that is a lot of pressure and requires nerves of steel. I imagine many of these critics would have berated him for going first by saying "he doesn't want to take a deciding penalty". If you hate the guy, just say so. Don't say wild things on the net.

Also, who cares about this Confederations Cup? It's cursed anyways, whoever wins this doesn't win the WC.

It's fashionable to bash Arsenal and Wenger but I do think Sanchez became a better player here overall than he was when he left Barcelona. I also believe the form Ozil showed in 15/ 16 was some of the best football he played in his career.

It's ludicrous we have reached a stage with both where they are into the last season of their contracts.

We were the better team, but the Germans won the only way they could. We have no one to blame for ourselves for our poor finishing (not just today but throughout the tournament).

It's a shame for this team, they clearly deserved to win it, but football will be football.

Shame for Chile, think the extra time against Portugal took some of their sharpness away. Chile doesn't have the same amount of depth on the bench and playing the same team throughout such a short tournament doesn't really help imo.

Timo Werner looks a decent player. He laid on a peach of a pass for one of Goretzka's goal against Mexico and scored some himself, plus put the work in to set up the only goal of the final.
