Reus is sensational. He'd be one of the top 5 players in Europe if he weren't made of glass.

He's outrageously good, one of the very few players who combine elite technique with elite physical and mental attributes, too bad he's brittle as shit. He's the only player bar Messi and Ronaldo I can think of getting 20+ goals and assists each in a single season which coincidentally happened the last time he's been fit for a full season

You reckon he's finally over the injuries? I initially thought they had screwed up his biomechanic irrevocably, but then I read that he's been out for the past seven months with a broken ass. That just can't be related to his ankles.

Hope we avoid Sevilla

Mentioned him in the jan trans window thread  .

Tuchel and Reus double deal in the summer.

Dortmund transition the ball with such ease. Defense looks even more non existent than ours though

Weigl is developing into one of the elite pivot midfielders of the next generation

If they can keep this team together for the next 2 years they are going to be a force to reckon with. The team is so young and blessed with talents.

Anyone of Pulisic, Dembele or Mor will be an extremely useful player for us on the wings.

i reckon if iwobi hadn't emerged last season, we'd have gone for dembele

aubamaeyang didn't have his best game, but the timing of his run for the 2nd goal and way he took into his stride was very henry-like. imo he's the closest to henry of the current crop of strikers, even though he lacks that top level flair and technique

One of Dembele or Reus should be doable in the summer actually, they have too many attacking players and they can't compete with our wages.

Would have felt pretty comfortable playing them in the CL, shame they won the group. Madrid have been nothing special the last few years but you know Ronaldo and co. will show up against us.

Actually, Real Madrid hasn't lost a game in a long, long time. Since April I think. That makes them a bit special I'd say.

Zidane record is phenomenal. Better than Pep at this stage. Played 50, won 38, drew 10 and lost only twice. He pretty much won most of all his important big games too.

Finishing first is loads better than finishing second looking at it now. I don't know why I ever thought it was even close, must have been in denial when I thought we'd be finishing second.

Actually Real finishing 2nd changes everything again. If we finished 2nd, we would have this: Napoli, Barca, Atletico, Monaco, Dortmund, Juve. 3 teams to avoid compare to 2.

I hope we draw one of the Portugese team. We famously struggle against high pressers so Bayer and Sevilla will be a very challenging tie.

Despite all the pot rule changes, almost everyone from pot 1 and 2 went through as expected. Pretty interesting.

Surprised to see pot 4 outperforming pot 3.

The rule changes mostly just swapped around teams from Pot 1 and 2 though so it's not really a surprise.

UEFA has finally managed to make this competition almost unbearable to watch. Keep rewarding places for shit teams from shit leagues, always same teams advance, always same teams face each other due to stupid R16 draw rules. Boring as fuck.

Who'd have thought the best 16 teams in Europe would keep getting into the last 16.

Yeah, I can't quite wrap my head around that. 🙂
I will say though, that I do think you could scrap the part where teams from the same country can't play each other in the round of 16.

Before I liked the rule because it's fun to face teams from other leagues, but I agree. The draw would get much more interesting.

No seeding and no restrictions (even for groups) would be great, it would certainly make things a bit more interesting.

I think the seeding makes sense. At least now, we every year get the best teams past the group stages. It'd be ridiculous if Arsenal, City and Real Madrid were drawn in the same group.

Seeding for groups makes sense, R16 draw should be revamped and i would enjoy it much, much more.

2 months later

PSG all over Barca, should be at least 1 goal up by now.

Verratti is running the midfield.

Di Maria with a peach of a freekick!
