Can I just say, the UK government is a government of arseholes, run by arseholes for arseholes and the sooner we're shot of the lot of them, the better I will feel.

And if there's anyone here tempted to say "yeah, but Jeremy Corbyn.." or "what about Sir Beer Korma?" you are part of the problem too.

Hopefully, none of you feel that way though.

I'd be surprised, but interesting point from Lewis Goodall on Twitter saying if 100 MPs vote no confidence, then half the house is against him and it'll be tough for him to present any authority.

Doubt he lasts more than a year, nearly half of his MPs have no confidence in him and going by his reign so far, things won't get any better for him.

I think that's why they want him out. They want to roll the dice again before the next election but the trouble is they have no decent candidates.

At any rate Boris Johnson's just useless - whether you agree with his original manifesto or not he's basically done fuck all since he's become PM other than govern by headline.

This is a good result - it's highly unlikely the majority of the party would vote him out to begin with but it's clear that he's not got much support from his own MPs. Plus now that he's a wounded duck more MPs will move away from him - no one likes backing the losing horse.

Flurry of resignations from junior ministers and aides has continued from last night until right up to PMQs too. No more big hitters but it's clear his support is collapsing even with those who ardently backed him before. I'm surprised shaved gorilla Jonathan Gullis stepped down, I didn't think he was bright enough to recognise the danger to his own reputation.

I normally watch PMQs but I'm the office today and disappointed to be missing it.

The only question is whether anyone wants to become PM right now or wait till the economy picks up and take credit for the recovery. Some of the senior MPs have been looking to jump off since the no confidence vote

Doubt it, not a single Tory opposed the bill when it came up despite it coming after the vote of confidence.

I don't think they'll have enough time before the next general election to get the economy to recover, but maybe they rather take over after the worst of it. I suspect that's exactly why Sunak made reference to the economy and 'making hard decisions', because when people really start to feel the pain of rising inflation he'll be able to distance himself from it all despite being chancellor all this time.

It's mad it has come to this tbh - Boris had an 80 seat majority in 2019. That should be enough for even an averagely competent person to govern for 10 years if they just did the basic things right.

With that kind of majority he should have coasted through, the COVID situation would have been difficult even for the most competent PM. Even though his handling was pretty shit but still made it through. After that it has just been scandal after scandal, all down to pure complacency as well. Clearly rather than being on his feet he's thinking fuck it I'll get through no matter what happens.

Been a lot of talk for a while his wife has been pulling the strings on certain issues which has been pissing off a lot of Tory MPs. Then there is the fact the current government is more comparable to a Blair government than a Conservative government.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out, he seems determined to see this through but cannot see how he does it. Even some rumours that even if he faced a no confidence vote he may call a snap election but I think that is him trying to call their bluff.

Sounds like he is gonna have to be dragged out rather than going gracefully.
