And he got Rupert Murdochs backing, which is what makes politicians in England "a popular leader".
And "fuck up with the wars" is an interesting way to gloss over killing half a million people and lying to cabinet and the public to make it happen.
Beyond that he introduced tuition fees, started the privatisation of parts of the national services, deregulated, etc all which laid the ground work for recession and austerity.
Blair may have been a popular leader at the time but the effects of his leadership have turned that on its head.
I'm not defending Blair, don't really like the guy but at the end of the day he won three elections. Corbyn has suffered two heavy losses in general elections, had a vote of no confidence passed on him and fucked up the European elections so that path is not going to work. So you can either shout from the sidelines or you need to choose a different path.
No leader is perfect and all good looking at what Blair did wrong but he did plenty right as well which is why people voted for him twice after he was elected. It is rather condescending to just put down to doing a deal with Murdoch. Which explains why so many on the left are at a loss as to why Labour lost so heavily. I've seen people on twitter calling everyone who voted Conservative a racist, homophobic, an Islamophobe, a nazi among other things, then blaming the elderly for ruining the younger generations future prospects. Not really going down with grace, maybe some people need to look inwards and see where it went wrong rather than just blaming the opposition and those who voted for them. Those who knocked on doors and on the ground have known for weeks what was coming, social media bubble says otherwise but that is now how things work. Places like Wrexham which have been with Labour for nearly 85 years they couldn't hold, this isn't just down to the media influencing them.
As for the War, I'm not glossing over anything. The biggest reason I lost faith in Blair and his government. At the time I was against it and still am, one of the biggest mistakes made in history and has completely fucked up the middle east and still this to date we along with those in that region are suffering due to it.

He's a war criminal. Everything else shouldn't really matter, popularity or not what's the point of having a Labour leader who's well liked by Joe Public while he's one of the main reasons more than a million people died in Iraq and God knows how many more due to the massive influx of weapons and instabilisation in the greater region.
Very poor form to call that a "fuck up".
Well the world and people/politics isn't black and white is it? Look at the current Labour leader and what he supports, anti Semitism rife in his party under his watch in the past openly supports IRA, Hamas etc. Not exactly a saint is he?
I agree re his actions in the middle east, him and Bush/Cheney in particular have made the world a much worse place to live in.

That's a typical leftist logic: The reason that an election goes against their ideas is never because the populace rejects those ideas. It’s always because the populace is too racist and too dumb to appreciate their progressive ideology.
Even now they still can not see what they've done wrong. Everything is just everyone else's fault, not down to their policies just down to Brexit. They knew this hammering was coming, on social media their game is strong but that does not win you elections. More polls coming out today showing that the reason they lost was their leader but still people putting it down to Brexit. People just did not believe or buy into their policies. All good promising free things but their policy on Brexit and immigration was as clear as mud. When it came to all this nationalising industries and promising free broadband, this is a party which can't get to grip with the anti Semitism in it's ranks you think they could deliver all of that?
Corbyn today not taking full responsibility of one of the worst campaigns ever by Labour. If he had any shame he would have resigned. Ed Miliband didn't do this bad and was out the next day, have some fucking shame man. Wes Streeting was seething today with his criticism and spot on, Corbyn and his people had everything they wanted and still took the party backwards. They had one gain in the whole of the country and that was Putney.
It is a shame the Labour party is so weak right now, those in the centre don't feel represented.
