I think Brexit might push some of the less hardline people that way but you'll always have a section of Unionists who'll never accept being part of a United Ireland. And TBF I can understand it, I know enough Republicans in the north who'll never accept being British.

I wouldn't say the pendulum has swung towards Remain but May seems done for now and it's all up for grabs. Fair play to Cox, thought he would do May a favour and fudge things.

If the deal fails then May's time must be up. I think one of the reasons she's been so desperate to save her deal is because she knows it's linked to her own future.

God knows what happens now in relation to Brexit, I don't think there's any potential for a deal so I'm guessing it's second referendum time, or to be more precise, arguing about what a second referendum should look like over the next few months. Either that or we get a general election.

Well, let's hope sanity prevails tomorrow. If Parliament do the decent thing and rule out a no deal Brexit then the outcome will have to be a second referendum, soft Brexit or a general election because the EU won't grant an extension unless there is a material change.

None of which helps the Eurosceptic cause tbh - so they may as well just back this deal.

So does that mean the path forward have to be agreed by parliament in principle before the 29th March?

And yeah, Eurosceptics are an odd bunch.

I don't think anyone really knows. A short extension should be feasible till the European elections in June without anyone getting their nose out of joint but that's not particularly enough time for the a new path forward. Based on the past few years, everything will only be decided at the last minute anyway.

Basically no deal isn't a feasible situation right now, there's been very minimal planning across the UK and EU for it. For instance, goods have already been shipped to the UK to be distributed across Europe as of 1st April - in theory they could end up in port without sufficient clearance to complete their journey.

Can someone explain the logic of even having a vote on extending Article 50 in the event that the vote for no deal fails? Shouldn't it go automatically to requesting an extension from EU? That's literally how you take no deal off the table. Everything else is just bad faith voting.

I assume it’s just a way for her to show the public that her hands are tied. Also given that Parliament voted to leave on the 29th they have to vote to extend it, even if it’s implied in the no deal vote.

I’m quite amazed, though I guess I shouldn’t be, how many Tory MPs are now advocating leaving with No Deal. Genuinely shameless. What’s worse is hardly any of the journalists tackle them on this. “Are you going to vote in favour of no deal tomorrow? Yes? Ok.”

These votes exist at all because of the Cooper Boles amendment that were tabled in Feb and May blindsided them by forcing the votes in March

Its not just her. Its all the other pathetic Brexit Torys who vote against her bills but then voted to keep her there. They just don't want to take on the responsibility and blame themselves and they're willing to watch the country get a bad deal just to protect themselves. I don't know how anyone can vote for these guys.

I wouldn't just leave the blame with the Tory party either (although - to be clear - the majority of the blame will always lie with them), I mentioned the Cooper-Boles amendment above but that's the only reason everyone hasn't absolutely lost their shit this morning. In normal circumstances, that should have been something the leader of the opposition should have owned - instead he was as reluctant as anyone and gave it half-hearted support. Similarly, Labour have only just changed their policy - slightly - because the new Independent party of MPs have inflicted some serious damage on Labour in the polls.

This is really just feels like the transfer window saga. Most of the activity is just window dressing now.

I can't for the life of me understand why they are going through with this thing. Surely it's time for another referendum or postponing Brexit indefinitely?

If they don't want the deal they've got, and won't leave without a deal, surely the answer is to not leave and re-think the whole thing?

I understand that many Tories are reckless, but what about everyone else? I don't for a second believe that MPs are voting for what they believe is best.

The whole thing is beyond embarrassing now. It's like your girlfriend breaking up with you but refusing to get the fuck out of your house because you won't give her all your furniture.
