Even on here too many good things have been said about the likes of Hart, Walker, Delli Alli, Kane and all of the others really. Steaming pile of shit of a team and a squad. So, so, so overrated. Not a single genuinely quality footballer in there.

Of course not, but then at least he has an excuse. The others are just plain crap. It's not even Hogdson's fault; he's no great shakes himself, but the players are genuinely rubbish.

Can't believe how delusional both my housemates have been after a constant erosion of the overall level of talent over the last 20 years (semi predictions!?). Honestly, not even shocked anymore about preformances like this. Totally agree that the players have to take the blame, don't feel Hodgson did much wrong, this squad is just wank.

i see this as a 3 pronged problem for england

woy had the charisma of a bowl of pudding. i generally think the fire and screaming on the touch line is pretty overrated, but none of the players really seemed to show the urgency and passion you'd expect. routinely beaten to 50/50s, and not just in this match. its one thing to coast through qualifying, its another to play in 2nd gear at the finals of a big tournament. you constantly see examples of teams with less talented players who are well coached and determined. they dont always beat the better team, but they are normally always competitive. england had the more talented team but failed to show the energy and drive of their less talented rivals.
woy didnt know what his best team was. he tried different formations and ultimately ended up playing square pegs in round holes instead of either picking a formation to suit the players he picked, or picking different players to suit the formation he wanted to play. personally, i dont think hes a good manager at all. his in-game tactics are pedestrian. he waited to put on rashford till like the 85th minute today, and as soon as rashford came on, he created 2 great chances. and what manager allows harry fucking kane to take set pieces?
the mix in the team is just completely wrong, and suprise surprise, a bunch of tottenscum players came up very small in big moments. given that he fucked up numbers 1 and 2, it was obvious #3 would be wrong as well. the FA allows this level of rot in the team because they kept woy on board even after he'd fucked up before. i think most nations would have sacked their manager had they underachieved like england did at the last world cup. instead he was kept on, he made the same mistakes again, and look where the team is.

im not even english and i dont give a shit about the england team, but i feel bad for those of you (except dules) that do

I think the English fans are too hard on themselves for what it's worth. Realistically, a nation like Iceland is not supposed to make waves on this level, but it's been obvious for a good while now that there's nothing realistic about Iceland. They knocked Holland out of the qualifiers, they advanced from a group everyone thought they'd finish last in. We have to stop talking about "upsets" based on population and old merits, and start judging teams based on how they perform instead. It was not hard to see Iceland have a good game tonight because they've been one of the best teams in the tournament. The odds were hugely in England's favour, but the actual chances were more like 60/40. It's easy to lose games like that when you have one or two passengers in the starting eleven.
