I don't exactly care, but I wouldn't say we're stagnating. It does show progression, it could be a confidence booster for players. A tool to use when dealing with transfers. More money as the higher the finish = more reward.

You don't care who we sign? The better the players = the better the squad. The better squad we have, the higher the chance we have of winning.

Leicester just disproved your last line about needing to spend more to sign better players.

Once you get to a certain level of quality it's more about tactics unless you have elite level players.

Back on topic, if Vardy makes the emotional decision to stay I think he'll very quickly regret it.

If he was truly content with staying he'd not have inserted the clause and he'd not have shopped himself around.

Let's see Leicester do it for 2 - 3 years running, it's more of a one off than anything. Leicester will go out and sign better players than they have this summer, explain why they will do that and not just stick with what they have if better players don't equate to a higher chance of winning?

Porto/Greece having their emphatic triumphs are more of a "once in a lifetime" achievement when sheer will power pushes them over the line than it being the standard. More often than not the team who spend big on transfers&wages, wins.

The question really is if you were all in Vardy's position would you move. If the option was between us and them, I'd stay.

A case could be made for both, but it's hard to look past any aversion prospective players might have once the deeply rooted and recurrent loserish mentality that we see most weeks and most transfer windows is accounted for.

Earning more, more likely to win trophies and Cl over an extended period and living in London.

Maybe you'd prefer otherwise though.

Earning more, but really how much more, 20-30k max? Vardy doesn't seem like the type to care much about that side of the game anyway.

More likely to win trophies is a hard one, if I was a striker who'd just comfortably won the league, it's not going to be as clear who's more likely to win it next season especially with the obvious point that we haven't won it in 12 years any they just did. So the argument could be made that we need him more than he needs us. CL is just a fantasy until we see any purpose from us in the tournament, and the same degree of lack of purpose from Leicester.

Living in London is over-hyped too, Vardy probably doesn't care for the perks you'd get here.

a) 20-30k per week max.. is NOT A SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY
b) i think its pretty clear to just about everyone that he will have a better chance to win things at a big club than with LC - this past season aside, which was a 100% anomaly.
c) ever think that by signing someone like Vardy (and Xhaka, and maybe one or 2 other players) that we really are trying to win things finally?

Living in London may or may not be a draw, but dont pretend that going from LC to Arsenal, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is anything but a step up.

Anyone in their right mind would care about that side of the game; he hasn't earned nearly as much as most EPL footballers have in their careers. This is not only his last but his first and only big payday, 30,000 pound sterling a week should make a big difference for him.

Never been to Leicester but I doubt it could compete with London.

Mini meltdown I see.

The way I see it is if Vardy wants to come here, it's because he wants to be the best he can be, win as much as he can. And that excites me alot. Whilst he's not the greatest footballer in the world, much like Suarez, their attitude and desire to win is everything.

If he's willing to leave Leicester and throw away the status he has earned himself as their superhero, where he could take to the pitch in his slippers for the next 3 years and still be worshipped and earn a fortune, then I would be willing to bet that he's also hurting at not winning the Golden Boot last season, that he wants to win the Champions League and not just play in it (cue jokes about us going out at the round of 16!) and that if we get a player motivated like that we should all be very happy.

If he chooses to stay then fair enough, he knows what he's choosing and we move on.

No one has mentioned the fact that he'd be choosing to play with the likes of Okazaki, Mahrez (if he stays) and Drinkwater over Alexis, Ozil and Xhaka.

b. It's wouldn't seem like a 100% anomaly if you were the one who got 24 goals and 6 assists on the way to it.
