no, im not advocating not signing anyone instead of vardy. if the choice is vardy or nothing, then of course i'd take vardy. if the choice is vardy or someone better than vardy, id take that option

Well yeah, if the choice is Vardy or someone better I'm sure we'd all take someone better, including Wenger.

The point was we let Higuain go to try and sign someone better and I assume it's the reason why we've not signed a centre forward since Giroud. If you can get a significant upgrade I'd rather we take it than wait around until 1st September hoping someone becomes available and decides to choose us. Frankly I wouldn't lose any sleep over missing out on any of the others anyway, at least Suarez was worth gambling over.

Bit of a cop out there. Everyone would take this theoretically superior player if he was on offer. I'm not sure exactly who that guy is though. Rumours are that Real are looking for over £50 million for Morata. Ibrahimovic has been more or less done for United for months now with them haggling a bit on wages. Higuain is a >£60 million player now. I'd probably have all three of them over Vardy but they are not realistic targets for various reasons.

In terms of winning Premier League we know for a fact that Vardy's good enough. The bloke is boss, has several attributes we completely lack and costs basically nothing in today's market terms. He'll easily buy us a year or two while we keep looking for the ultimate solution.

Most important bit.

A real lack of top quality striking talent out there, but we can't afford to wait. We need goals and Vardy would give us that. Which is why this signing makes a lot of sense. Especially for the quoted price.

Lot of lazy opinions out there about Vardy. Thinking that he won't fit our style as Leicester played on the counter and we don't tend to. Vardy has top technique and finishing. Just need to look at his body shape when receiving the ball and striking it to realise he's capable of playing in a team which creates in tighter space.

Hopefully this is decided either way before they leave for the Euros so we know where we stand. If not then what happens? We sit around waiting for the England to return then someone else sneaks in?

I think the weirdest thing that is being thrown around is that he can't hold up the ball. People who paid attention this season realise that it's not really Giroud who holds up the ball at Arsenal - it's Özil. Giroud wins a few goalkicks in the air and such but he's not chiefly responsible for getting the ball to stick in the attacking half.

We're actually set up to exploit quick transitions but we only have two players who are capable of doing it. I think someone like Vardy would be a big help. He's so tenacious too. He'll work the channels all day and hunt for every ball. Centrebacks hate that shit, especially in the modern game which is based on rapid movement during very small intervals. They don't want to be dragged wide and forced to be on their toes the entire time.

i think this is key.. we have someone like Sanchez pressing high all the time but no one following up and blocking the passing channels for the players to escape.. Vardy will press high along with Sanchez and really put defenders in a bad spot and cough up the ball...

If Vardy hasn't put pen to paper, then yes.

If it's just a case of Arsenal.com being slow about it till the photoshoots are sorted, then it's not a problem.

Some former (?) journalist named Ben Fairthorne claims that Vardy passed a medical with us yesterday, that the deal is done and that it's going to be announced "in the coming days":

A quick look at the comments on that tweet tells me that this guy claimed M'Vila had signed for us once upon a time. Bit dodgy track record, but hey ho. It's better than a periscope from some fat fuck sitting on the toilet.

Add any of Mhkitaryan/Mahrez/Gotze/Carrasco and you have a front 3 capable of and experienced in both playing the press and counter-press.
