Vardy and Walcott are very different players, the only similarity is that they're fast. It's like saying Walcott would score as much as Aubameyang if he was playing for Dortmund.

I actually think they have similar strengths: pace, good timing of their runs and finishing.  Similar weaknesses too: their technique, skill, passing, vision etc are nothing to write home about.

Vardy presses opponents better , that's the only major difference I can think of.

By the way, Aubameyang is much more skilful but he's another rapid goalscorer with flawed technique. He's better than both Vardy and Walcott IMO.

Warming to this. Not my first choice of strikers out there we could realistically sign, but feel pretty confident we would be a much better team with Vardy instead of any of the striker options we currently have. Most importantly, it would mean I won't have to see another season of the game we have to play with Giroud at point.

So you don't mind 'racists' or cheats after all ; )

Not feeling this signing, not when Ibra is joining a Europa league team for free. I'd have shipped out almost half of our team and brought in Ibra, James, and Mahrez/Gotze. Yes Ibra is a huge risk (due to his age) but we could easily play Alexis upfront should things not work out for the Swede. Our attack has been holding us back for years, we really need to go out there and bring in top quality talents/players - not decent/good/average forwards.

Vardy was great last season but as poor as Theo was for us, I believe he could have scored 20+ goals playing upfront in that Leicester team.

What's this racist stuff with Vardy? I'm not aware of it. Link to an article perhaps?

Your slow style is dictated by having a lumbering center forward. Everyone else is very fast, and should be able to adapt to a more direct system very easily.  Wenger knows how to coach counter attacking football, and Vardy can't play point the way Giroud does. Obviously our game will change.

Do you think so Claudius?
That would be an amazing development.

I know one thing, if Wenger changes nothing about our setup and sticks Vardy out wide as a pseudo-striker your proposed Wenger boycott sounds awfully tempting. But I do think this signals an altering of our playstyle.

Vardy also seems to be physically much stronger when on the ball.

As long as he wins us trophies who cares. I would take all the Jack Wilsheres and Jamie Vardys any day over nice character who are losers. Comparing Vardy to Theo is an insult to Vardy, quality wise they are a good distance apart at the moment.

What a time to be alive though. Wenger making 2 huge signings before euros has even begun.

He hasnt made this signing just yet.

I wouldn't in my wildest dreams have imagined that Wenger would be interested in Vardy and 24 hours later its almost a done deal!
As I said to Willie these are strange times we're living in, and if as Speedy says that this is Wengers last hoorah and he has just thrown all his cards in the air to see how they fall in one desperate last attempt this would be the ideal scenario- But we are getting ahead of ourselves, when the deal goes through we will have to analyse it.

Vardy seems like trash off the pitch, convicted of assault, incident above. Hopefully the likes of Ranieri and Wenger can be a good influence on the guy.

He used to turn up to training drunk when he first joined Leicester apparently 😆

Even Vardy didn't deny it and apologised later.

For the record, I don't have any problem with us buying questionable characters  like Vardy. I'm just not sure he's a good enough starting striker for us (I mean a level above Giroud). Even in his best scoring season, his goal record was similar to Giroud's  (minus pens), playing for a team that was built around his strengths. And the season before that he only scored 5 league goals (no Klaus, he played  90% of those games upfront).

You know I'd take a punt on a striker with quality allround game with iffy goal scoring record, but a striker with iffy scoring record whose main strengths is running around closing people down, in a team that plays every 3 days (plus all that travelling )? I'm not sure. But I just have to trust Wenger on this, he knows a quality player when he sees one despite all his faults (penny pinching, poor planning and preparation etc).

Hi @RebekahVardy, I'm happy to recommend some nice restaurants in London if you need?

What is wrong with this guy...

Now you have no choice but to hate Vardy with as much vigor as you did Suarez Rex.

Hate him and call him Drunkey McRacist McBastard McCunt all the time, or no one will ever take you seriously again!

Vardy won most of those pens, wouldn't take those goals away from him.

He won all of the pens he scored actually, I think. That's a quality of his.

😆

This is exciting. Genuine goal scorer and someone who'll thrive with ozil. And as I said early him and Sanchez together will cause a lot of mistakes from defenders.
