Ramsey will come good in my opinion, if given a run of games in the central midfield box to box role alongside Xhaka. He also needs to stay fit though.
Even at his very best, he's too careless in possession and it opens doors for the opposition even in games we are easily on top. He either drops and clogs up the midfield or causes a break down of attacks with his pointless flicks and back heels. We basically need to give him a free role like Wales do and we have better players for that. He's ok on the wings with Bellerin's pace behind him and I think this is where Wenger will continue to play him. Technically he is the most limited out of all our midfield options.
Agreed. Ramsey can definitely do a lot better than he is currently but I don't expect him to replicate his 13/14 form for a sustained period as it was a pretty specific setup (Özil, Giroud and Arteta all played for him more or less) that helped him to excel, we were far too dependent on him for my liking anyway. He's one of those players in the vein of Ben Arfa who look best when they're given a free role but like the Frenchman they're not good enough for a top club to depend on them like that.
Ramsey's role in the future should be something of a rich man's utility player, he's polyvalent enough to play a role against the lesser sides centrally and on the right vs big teams or away. Needs to sort his head out anyway, under a proper manager he'd be dropped from the squad for that non-performance vs Southampton. It's one thing to perform poorly but to not give 100% for whatever fucking reason is reason enough for many managers to have him train with the reserves for a couple weeks
