2 points from OT and Spurs at home isn't great but its not the end of the world either. We need to beat the smaller teams and get our points there.

The real issue from yesterday though was it just highlights an ongoing weakness thats never going to be fixed, Wengers match day management. I think it could be what holds us back this season.

2 draws is better than a win and a loss for me anyway. At least we kept them at distance.

Wenger's match day management in big away games has been holding up back for years. The episode at United was nothing new. He celebrated another accidental draw at City as if he'd won the game.

A lot of disscusion about this pic online. About our passing game. Everybody has a diffrent view.

What I see is, when we are flat in the middle of the park we don't win games, it's as simple as that. We are flat when Santi is not there, Coq dosen't move the ball forward, Elneny is better then him at that, but still pretty slow. Xhaka seems to be doing that but he can't get more then 1 game in a row.
We need to fix this, maybe Ramsey in there ? Xhaka - Ramsey ? Or at least Xhaka - Coq. But not Elneny - Coq.
But I'm probably totaly wrong.

November hasn't been the utter disaster it usually is. If we win our next game, it's been a reasonable month.

I agree with your assessment and the only solution I see until Cazorla is back is play Ramsey from the centre. Playing him wide is nonsense, look how narrow we were from the left yesterday. You can't play Sanchez at CF if you don't stretch the defence. We need Iwobi on the left if we want to keep playing Sanchez up there.

Agree on the wide players. It's a difficult one in terms of the middle, do we need someone like Aaron who's more involved or do we need someone who can pass and find players further forward? I'd go with both in the easier looking fixtures and go with Xhaka-Coquelin in the harder looking fixtures.

I'd agree with that for games we are willing to draw. Home games against good teams I'd still want to go for it. Away to City, Chelsea, in the CL sure lock midfield down a bit more. I think I'd opt for Ox over Iwobi in those games too. Games where you want a moment rather than good fluid play throughout.

No way, Ox should only play in big games if we're chasing a goal. He got a good assist yesterday but that's not enough to forget all of his haphazard play and ridiculous turnovers.

You're correct in saying in big games you sometimes need a "moment more than good fluid play" but that's much more likely to occur when Özil or Alexis are holding the ball. With Iwobi the chance the latter two will get the ball is like a hundred times higher than when Ox is on the pitch

Its a fair point jones. I'm just going on Oxs form at the moment where he is producing some moments.

Our problem isn't our away form, we're second only to City in terms of points away from home.
A draw at OT, regardless of whether or not United are perceived as s*** this season, is a perfectly acceptable result.
Our issues are at home - 7 points dropped already - if you look at league winners over the past few seasons the max number of home points dropped is 9 (stand to be corrected on that).

The only Top 4 team we play between now and February is City.
Our 6 home games between now and February are against: Bournemouth, Stoke, West Brom, Palace, Burnley and Watford.
That is a pretty much a gift in terms of putting a run of home wins together - if we can't do it we're not winning the league.

I was just looking at our fixtures earlier too. We have a real chance to get a run going now. We have 3 reasonably handy games, then Everton before City. If we got 11 or more points from that run and then keep things together over Xmas we'll be in a good position to challenge. If we slip up too much we'll be done by the end of January though.

Of course a point at OT is a positive result but the manner we achieved it tells you there are problems ahead, some of which are long standing. However we are in a better position squad wise and this takes away of Wenger's bad habits. This is very much a game we would've lost last season and the summmer additions have raised our floor. It would've been Flamini in the middle of the park last season with little options on the bench and us going down to a sucker punch from a counter attack. I think if Wenger manages the squad wisely, we will have a strong end to the season. Xhaka still has a lot to contribute and Perez, Welbeck and Santi would all return to play a big part.

The manner in which we achieved it?
We achieved it with two instances of pure quality.
A towering powerful header from a peach of a cross.

That it was achieved in the dying minutes of a game where we'd played sloppily and without energy, ceding initiative to a team desperate for a win in their home ground is a reason for me personally to temper my disappointment that we didn't beat them with satisfaction of knowing that we were tough enough to rescue a valuable point.

I think the difference is we had players like Giroud, Xhaka and Ox to bring off the bench, the likes of Iwobi not even getting on the pitch while Perez didn't even get in the squad. It makes a huge difference having a good bench and should give us a bit of an advantage over the Xmas period.

Ramsey is proving to be a real problem. Trying to show horn him into the side is having a detrimental effect

I think you are deliberately misinterpreting the point. I was obviously not talking about the goal. You said it yourself, we played poorly and were fortunate to get out of jail. This is indisputable. I was delighted with the point considering the circumstances but we won't come away with anything if we repeated this performance against a better team. Wenger's match management in big away games is a problem and this performance was no coincidence.

If we lost to Spurs at home, but won at OT, we will be behind Spurs now. Reverse the situation, win Spurs but lose to United and they are only a couple of points behind us and most probably kickstart their season.
