goon If you're signing a 26yr old to play centre forward they need to be elite, not someone who's never played top flight football in one of the big 5 leagues with one outstanding season to his name. That's not to say he can't be the one, but superficially it gives me a lot of pause.

There are late bloomers. Suarez was 25 when he moved to Liverpool and only had 3 seasons in the dutch league, a league worse than Portugal. It's hard to make conclusions like these, better to view the players individual qualities. I haven't watch Gyokeres much but I looked up his numbers and was impressed. He has 2 very prolific seasons in championship and now mantained that goalscoring touch in the Portugese league. Gotta be worth something.

I very much prefer the potential and power of Sesko.

He’s going to be 25 and his salary means he’d be a top earner at prospective clubs. We ideally needed him to somehow get into double figures this season but he’s only scored in 3 out of 24 appearances.

I think that will scupper any chance of a big fee, I’d be happy with £20m personally.

goon agree. I worry that fans overestimate how much money we can bring in from transfers this summer. Unless we sell a core asset to a Premier League or European rival, we aren’t bringing in tons and tons of money. Nketiah, Ramsdale will get decent cheese. And then it’s slim

Gyökeres's age wouldn't scare me at all. I think strikers are late bloomers in the modern game – the physical, tactical, technical, and psychological demands are enormous, and it can take time to put it together.

I think he looks great in a comp I saw, but I have no idea how that would translate from Portugal to the Premier League.

Lot of options out there for us. Can’t wait to see a more physical player up top for us. The way the team is set up they’ll have the potential to net a billion.

My ONLY issue with Gyokeres is going to be his fee. Sporting is going to hold out for his full release clause which it sounds like is at least 80m pounds. For that type of fee, I just feel like its a big risk but we've seen with Rice that if you can get the player who backs up that type of fee, the questions over the cost go away pretty quickly.

My #1 priority and the player I want at Arsenal over any others is Nico Williams. He just looks like he's got everything in his locker and would add so much dynamism to our attack. To me, any move we make at striker has to come after we secure Nico. Nico plus Gyokeres (or Zirkzee, who I really like) would add so much pace and power to our attack and make us big favorites next year IMO.

samthegooner Nico is an Arsenal player. I can see him on the wing, and I can see him doing Trossard / Havertz things in the centre.

What do we want from a striker? Do we want someone who helps us lean into this football, but with slightly different attributes? Or do we want a plan B? Plan A for me is Nico, and to lesser extent Gyokeres. Plan B would be guys like Ferguson.

What makes him so exciting? He looks like a poor man’s Wilfred Zaha to me, if you want a pacey winger, Neto is the first name on the list. But apparently according to ornstein getting a striker is our first priority, with CDM/CM after that.

goon I agree with those assessments but I do worry about how robust Ferguson is. Maybe it comes with age and maybe Brighton are being very careful with a big asset but he's in and out a lot and I fear he might never reach his potential if he can't stay fit enough to get a proper run in the next couple of seasons.

flobaba Nketiah and Ramsdale both going should bring in at least £80m. These are 2 high profile players, both England internationals, both relatively young, both PL proven. All the Eddie profit would be a big boon to our FFP/P&S position too. If Edu and co. can't get big money for those 2 then we really do have a selling problem.

Beginning to understand our thirst for Doug Luiz - he’d be excellent in the role Jorginho is currently playing. Better physically and nearly as capable on the ball.

We won't get more than £25m for Eddie. Liverpool would extract £40m.

I've watched a couple of Bilbao games now this season and he's jumped off the screen. The big things I have loved are:
-Rapid pace (he's in the absolute top tier for pace and would instantly be our most explosive runner)
-Two-footed ball striking (both with shooting and deliveries into the box - he's night and day better than similar players like Doku)
-Has already played more than 5,500 top flight minutes in La Liga for Bilbao as a 21 year old
-Works hard defensively and would fit in well with our press (he used to play outside back when he was younger)

I feel like comparing him to Zaha is a little lazy. Zaha has never worked as hard as Nico does off the ball and his creation numbers pale in comparison. Nico is currently second in La Liga in Goal Creating Actions with 18 (Savio leads with 19 for Girona) and leads the league in GCA/90 at 1.05. He's also in the top 10 (7th) in Shot Creating Actions with 91 and is ahead of players like Griezmann, Rodrygo, his brother and Kubo.

Compared to someone like Rafael Leao, his numbers look very similar to Leao's at the same age (21), which was the season before Leao really broke out as a 22 year old in Milan's title winning season. I feel like we are at a similar spot with Nico and he would add qualities to our squad with his game breaking speed in transition as well as his 1 on 1 ability against settled blocks where we need individual brilliance to create chances.
