Yeah looking at the available wingers with potential left, he has to be our best option. Can't think of anyone else in particular, maybe Doku but probably same potential.

Shame Antony is unattainable.

Is there a point in signing Gakpo though? We already have plenty of talent out wide, only way I'd be inclined to understand it was if the winger was someone who'd go straight in and improve us (which I thought Raphinha would, and even him I was sceptical about). Is Gakpo any more talented than Martinelli and ESR, any more polished than Pepe?

No to all of those questions, we don't need another winger anyways.

Doku I'd make an exception for, kid is the very definition of electric. Lacks a bit end product so far and would cost a bomb after he moved for 26m as an 18 year old but it's unreal how much fun to watch he is, like playing FIFA with all the control sliders maxed out

Aside from Martinelli, who is questionable anyway, our options for the left side of the attack are underwhelming.

Gakpo seemed worth a punt when we hadn’t signed Jesus. But he and Martinelli are too similar for me - both LWFs who may end up central.

I think we will sell Pepe that's why.

And as seen many times, we simply don't prioritise midfield so why not just sign a winger instead of no one.

Yeah but we can't keep talking like selling Pepe is a given that we need to take into consideration. Selling him instead of playing him is a choice, and if we're doing it to get a player who isn't better it's a bad one.

The Melo rumours have been shot down repeatedly as being a rehash of January when we were actually in for him albeit only as a loan.
