There is indeed no good comparison out there. He is the best player in the world at bringing the ball out from deep by dribbling. Basically what they promised Ben White would be but that never happened. There was a chart showing progressive ball carries from deep a few years ago and Frenkie was the dot in the top right hand corner, far removed from everyone else.

If there even is a slim chance of getting either Tchouameni or De Jong, who would the OMIT crowd go with?

To be honest if there was a slim chance, would you go for both and sacrifice somewhere else?

New dream scenario:

Gabriel Jesus - £30mil
De Jong - £55mil
Tchouameni - £50mil
Hickey - £15mil

If more departures - Trossard/Wirtz - £40mil

I think we will spend a lot of money, and with Saliba coming back, this would give us hands down the best spine that we have had since our last title.

The midfield for me is the most important part of the team, and having those players would enable us to cover for suspensions, injuries, and loss of form. With Partey and Tchouameni (Bissouma depending on court case), we would be physically ready for any top team, and would be able to play a high line and still apply pressure our the opposition. De Jong would be an outlet to help retain possession. Odegaard and De Jong could be used in games where you want to start on the front foot and dominate.

If only one was attainable, I would go with Tchouameni. It is just too tempting to partner him and Partey together. They would bully the opposition, and Tchouameni could play in the Partey role if he were injured.

Then:
Gabriel Jesus - £30mil
Trossard/Wirtz - £35-40mil
Tchouameni- £50mil
Hickey - £15mil
Malacia - £15mil

If more departures - another striker

The skill set you are alluding to, definitely is tempting. I think I need to watch some Barca games.

Agree. I have wishlisted Tchouameni for years but De Jong is currently different level and one of a kind, while at a wrong club Tchouameni could become Kondogbia.

De Jong would cost around 70m euros or more and that should wipe out half our transfer budget. Jesus will be around 40-50m, then factor in another striker and you have not much left.

Gabriel Jesus will have on year left on his contract. No chance City will get £50mil for him. Reports have stated anything from £25mil-30mil.

Wirtz is a complete dream, I love Trossard though and think he would be attainable at £35-40mil. Trossard can play across the line and his work rate is phenomenal. I think he would fit in to the type of team we are trying to build.

Trossard and Wirtz in the same breath does look funny tbh. Wirtz is Germany's Golden boy, recuperating from a torn ACL and both club and player have repeatedly stated even before the injury that he's 100% staying at least another year if not two. If the injury doesn't hamper him too badly he'll cost 100m+, not like we're lacking in that position either.

Not the biggest fan of Jesus but talent wise there's a chance he steps up being the main man, also seems pretty likely at this point with the Haaland links. Him, de Jong and at least one starting full back for either side would be very solid business, if we can somehow convince PSG to poach Arteta and we don't botch his replacement I'd argue we're a lock for the CL spots.

Osimhen and Nunez is obviously the dream, but if we signed Jesus, someone like Schick might be a very smart signing too.

If you like Wirtz, you will definitely like De Katelare. Similar in style and currently is best at Trequarista role, although I feel they can be converted to be strikers especially with his height.

That would be a game changer for us if we signed him. Van Dijk and Alisson elevated Liverpool to the next level, De Jong does the same for us. Not saying it would elevate us to the level of Liverpool but a level above what we are now. All season we've not been able to impose ourselves on teams or control the game like a top side should. De Jong helps us do that.

Like jones mentioned he has spoken fondly of us and did see himself joining us after Ajax. Utd would blow our bid and salary offer out of the water so would need the player to really want to play for us.

The Sun is claiming an exclusive, 40m deal for Tielemans all but done.

Out of all the CM options he would be the most disappointing given how bad he has been this season but there's a good player in there.

I think he'd be one of the best realistic options. For that 3rd midfield role with Partey and Odegaard he'd be a huge upgrade.

He would be a very good signing for me and fits the Arteta bill in terms of age and PL experience.

I am not sure what has happened to his form this season though would hope that it is because of his contract situation and a move would galvanise him.

He was brilliant last season and capped it off with the winner in the FA cup final. His passing through the lines is also his biggest asset in my opinion.

There are some really good midfield options out there this summer and I'm not talking about the 70-80 mill household names. This guy is going to get his pocket picked so many times. Not keen, especially for anything upwards of 25 million.

Signing the likes of Tielemens and Jesus seems aligned with Arteta's goal (instructions) to consistently, albeit slowly, improve the squad. If the rumors of him selling KSE on a goal of Europa for this season, and making CL for next season then that sounds about right.

They would certainly give us a boost over current options, but they're also both a risk of falling off in the coming years and/or never dramatically improving our starting XI.

Put another way, would you rather Tielemens and Jesus (for some 80m) or a single fucking class starter for that 80m?

Rather Leeds get relegated, we sign Philips and a top class striker like Osimhen. Keep Nketiah as backup.

His form this season and during his stint at Monaco are worrying.

I feel like Tielemans is where Neves was before this season. Obviously talented but struggling to impose himself on games. Things changed quite quickly for Neves on the pitch and off the pitch perception of him changed as well. Most of his doubters this time last summer would now be a little happier to have him. I think Tielemans is at the same stage of his career and a move away / stint under a different manager might be just what he needs to kick on.

I wouldn't be against it if we also sign cover for Partey. Tielemans can fight it out with Xhaka for the final spot in the 3 next to Ode and Partey. Send Samby on loan and sign an adult as cover for Partey. Maybe a cheeky 1/2 year deal for Fernandinho?
