That Aouar story is a prime example of a rumour with very little substance.

To be fair to Arteta, this Aouar story is actually up my street. A guy who showed real promise, had a bit of a down season is the reverse of how we do things.

His price is now in line with his ability, and if we can get him playing up to his potential, then everyone is a winner. If he bombs, then again, his price is in line with his ability and we will not lose out too much.

He has good technical ability, likes to carry the ball forward and can dribble.

Not a world beater, but can go up a few levels

Sure. I think he's more of an all-round midfielder with high technical quality rather than a specialist AM. That Camavinga is showing up in the same stories makes sense to me.

If the rumours about us considering Sabitzer as well are true than a midfield trio of Sabitzer-Partey-Aouar would be interesting albeit severely lacking in goal threat.

I actually don't mind Aouar at the quoted price of 25M or thereabouts (or Laca + minimal cash). Coming here without much pressure on him and he is probably the right profile to spell ESR. We also get the benefit of deciding in a few years which of them we want to keep based on their development and can hopefully make some money off the other one. I'd love to see a midfield with Partey / Lokonga -- [Neves/Tchouameni/Merino] / Elneny -- ESR / Aouar - will have great balance.

If we are playing 433 and not a designated number 10 then Sabitzer + Aouar would be absolutely perfect.

Would be tasty. Also a good reason to keep Willock. He can play off some 2-man combination of Aouar/Sabitzer/Partey.

While I'm getting worried about Aouar's alleged attitude problems, I reckon Sabitzer would pretty much be a sure thing while Aouar in a worst case scenario wouldn't be an expensive mistake if he didn't work out.

Yep. Would solve our creativity issues from CM as well. We cannot afford to have a Bissouma Partey pairing.

Willock's main problem is that he simply can't retain and recycle possession well. He is not a passer, but in a midfield 3 he can work. Midfield 2 will be bad for him

Yeah. That’s my thinking, Clrnc. Willock looks like a striker to me. We talk about his runs from midfield which are remarkable. So let’s take advantage of that with the safety net of 2 players who are good on the ball behind him. But when I see people saying we should play him in a midfield 2, I worry

[According to as.com] - [AS] Arsenal told Isak that if he was interested in a move to London Colney, they will outright buy his release clause of €70m with no negotiations. They are that interested in his services. Real Madrid are also seriously considering him as an alternative to Haaland.
