The funny thing is he actually registered 4 goals and 7 assists last season from 26 starts in his first least season in the PL at the age of 20. If he got much more than that he'd basically be in Grealish territory. It's a bizarre complaint.

Off the top of my head he scored against Chelsea and West Brom, who else?

Your top of the head is correct. Goon used stats from all competitions (or at least something more than the league). I guess technically it was still "his first season in the PL", but the wording certainly makes it seem like it's PL stats. 😆

Anyway, don't think end product will be a problem for ESR. He has a really good shot on him.

Using goals and assists to purely just attacking mids... thought that argument was way outdated by now. I remember I used to argue about Hleb's effectiveness and influence in that team in the past despite his lack of great end product and people never understood what was pre-assist.

Now there are even OPTA stats about pre-assist and tons of great players like Iniesta etc shown people how an attacking mid without goals and assists can be better than one.

ESR will be a great player, with or without many goals.

Individual stats can be interesting, but players overall impact on a team, which is what matters the most, is difficult to quantify.

Not going to get animated over this. He’s a very different AM. He’s an on the ball guy. Creates by running at players. At a bit of a junior Grealish. Doesn’t create as many through ball opportunities as, say, a Maddison might but will still put defenders under pressure. He’s highly talented but raw, so a question about our experience balance.

I'm really disliking a lot of the decisions he seems to be making too Klaus. Selling Martinez without even knowing whether Leno wants to stay here, buying Willian to play ahead of our other wingers (Pepe, Saka, Auba etc), alienating Saliba, this Auoar pursuit, passing up on Buendia only to choose to spend a shitload to fund his CB obsession. And that's aside from his matchday decisions and they way he sets us up.

The FA Cup gave him some time and goodwill from me but the dude seriously needs to provide tangible results this season to justify the poor excuse for football we're served up each week.

Gabriel is another question mark for me. Bloke could easily be another Mustafi.

No one said that every single thing Arteta has ever done has been shit at any rate. But there have been some very questionable decisions to go along with two 8th place finishes and a generally low quality of football. It's more than enough for me to feel that he doesn't deserve to keep his job.

I'm seeing many more stories about pushing for Camavinga. Atletico seem to be in for Aouar (he's not as bad as you all make out) so I wouldn't be surprised if this was mostly coming from Lyons in an attempt to drive up the price.

Claude obviously meant Arteta did well in convincing Saka and Balogun to sign. I do think that's a strength of Arteta but everything else is just so unclear right now.

So you’re worried about Gabriel, and Saliba is a kid, but you’re uncomfortable with the idea of bringing in White. It sounds like you’re laying the case for why it makes sense to bring in a guy like White to help us manage and hedge their development.

Because he's another kid like those two, with a fee attached that would make him one of the 3-4 most expensive defenders of all time.

Out of everything we need to get done this summer a new centreback doesn't even register. Arteta picked most of these players we're stuck with, and now he has to make them perform. He simply can't keep blowing all our cash on defenders when we've already got too many.
