As for a CB the theory is that Arteta wants a mobile CB with pace so he can push up with a higher Defensive line, which will have a knock-on impact to our ability to play a high press and our transitions. Saliba fits the required profile, but a point was raised that Arteta may not feel a Gabriel-Saliba combo is experienced enough individually to hang his managerial career on over the start to the season, particularly if Saliba was one of the problem players last year = he was critical of Arteta in the media when he went on loan, much like Guendouzi.

Agree with all of that. The CB rumours have not been surprising given that context. If we keep Saliba and dump Holding, that would make sense given the style. It will help us play in the opposition half with shorter distances amongst players, and the CB as the thermostat. But on the flip side Holding has been a reliable defender this season

However he doesn't match the presumed profile to be a starting CB.

This is the houseboat thread, it's where we talk about rumours.
Houseboat links to Lokonga from Belgium, but he looks bloody impressive in this compilation. Ridiculous passing ability.
Looks quality. Fuck it, get him. Next Zelalem
Next Tielemans.

Lovely.
Looks really good, the way he drops the shoulder to buy space, and the range of passing is fantastic.
Hopefully he is good defensively as well.
Looks a good prospect. Type of profile we should be looking for in addition to a couple of blockbuster transfers this summer
He was incredibly highly rated two or three years ago already, was linked to Barcelona and City then tore his ACL. Looks to have recovered well although not on the same trajectory, he was rated as the biggest Belgian talent ever back then.
Didn't know that.
While we are at it, might as well sign the 2 FM legends Kana and Verschaeren from Anderlecht too. Most of their talents turns out well
Guys how are you pronouncing his name?
Low conga? Lock - on- gya? Loko and ya? Lokon- ghaagh?
Looks quality - nice eye for space in the pass. This is the profile of signing I'd be happy for us to pursue.
We're also linked with dopey goalie Onona from Ajax. Hopefully not too much of an onanist.
Now getting linked with Ajax right back Noussair Mazaraoui.
Very highly rated Moroccan international with only a year left on his current contract.
Only issue is his injury record.

Crock on the left, crock on the right - no thank you.
Talk of a move for Sterling gathering pace.
He’d be great for the left side of our attack
Would be great if we can sign Onana, Tapsoba, Bissouma, Mazaraoui. Our club can also leave for AFCON in January

Don't think Pep will want to sell. Still one of his most trusted and most used players.

This is a weird one. Clearly very talented but with a lot of mileage having played for one of the great teams of our time. Would he be able to come here and be motivated, or would he just lose it like the Chelsea players? I would rather someone on the up like Maddison
