The chances are you're not going to buy many players at 26+ anyway, usually it means they're in their prime and too expensive. You'll be prevented from over doing it by default.

Also worth noting that Coutinho was basically a one-off in all of football history. When has such a houseboat footballer ever gone for a world record sum? Denilson (not ours) is the only one who springs to mind, and he was from an era before transfer fees spun completely out of control. The £21 million Betis paid in 1998 still pale in comparison to the £140-ish million Barca forked up.

I reckon Saka is the only player at Arsenal worth really big money currently, and if we sell him we deserve to be a midtable club.

This reminds we of the whole man marking or zonal marking when everyone does both. We can't afford a entire team of world class 26 year old with no resale value. While at the same time we can't afford to play all kids and hand around this low in the table. We need both. But the emphasis for a club with less money should be a little more towards development as we can't outspend.

Saka has rights too and he's not gonna hang around too long bullshitting with this caliber of teammates and coaches.

IMO they have already replaced one of Mane/Salah with Jota, but COVID has f*cked their projected sale to RM who are now broke, and LFC were unable to sell to generate funds.
They need to find a replacement for Wijnaldum and cover of Firmino if Jota replaces one of Mane/Salah.

Fabrizio and Chris Wheatley both have come out and said that Lamptey is on our shortlist for right back.

I think he'd be a risk personally. For a start he picks up injuries like nothing else, can barely finish games and picked up a 3 month long Hamstring injury despite only completing 90 mins 7 times this season.

I also think he'd potentially frustrate with his passing, while he's never had to play in a back four. He's also a ridiculous 5ft 4.

All that being said, I like the idea behind it.

Not for me. Don't think he will be a good fit here frankly. I'd want to bring in Mazraoui from Ajax - athletic and good on the ball. Obviously not tested defensively in the Eredivisie, but that's a risk worth taking I think.

I think we’re becoming a team who will boss possession and will look for fullbacks to blow past opponents and provide a real attacking threat. Lamptey excels at that

I had doubts before but would actually go for Aarons. He's a good defender. On attack, he overlaps really well, and crosses superbly. So would link up with both Saka and Pepe on the right. Not as good a passer as say Hakimi but looks better than Lamptey. Lamptey is straight up boss at charging up and down the field, but a few injuries might end him like Bellerin.

Aarons will be way too expensive I reckon. At that price range its smarter to go for Hakimi.

I like Lamptey but I share the injury concerns. His height don't matter to me because of how good he is in attack.

That’s why I don’t understand how they're still doing fairly well. We nullified Bruno completely in the first match this season. We struggled a bit more the second match but he still didn't get to that many chances.

Not seen him him this season but I'm not a huge fan of Aarons either, genuinely don't think he's a big change from Hector.

Really don't know how this fits with Saliba. Is Arteta done with him or would we leave him in the wild like Mav? Also the fact that this boy has been beset with injuries is a concern. Think he had 4 spells last year alone

It's clear we wanted Saliba and Flo to stay but when your 19 and at a big club you have to kill it in training and earn your spot. Not roast the club on social media. Saliba is more likely to leave than stay.

Difference between Saliba and Guendouzi is Saliba is actually good. Tall athletic specimen who is butter on the ball. He just needs 1st class hours facing men like Mbappe and Depay regularly. Edu should try to reconcile.
We don't even know what Folarin is other than a social media busy body who wants to earn as much as Holding.
